Beautiful story, buautiful friendship, beautiful quilt!!!
"Amazing Grace" seems to me to be the most appropriate name. I too love music and want to do a quilt with music theme for my grandson who has a voice like an angel. Thanks for sharing with us. |

Recently I told her I had played the accordion for 55 years and it still soothes my soul. My dad, who passed away in 1994 from cancer, absolutely loved to listen to me play - particularly Amazing Grace. He would have been 85 on Feb. 8th. On that day, I received a letter in the mail from my dear friend (who did not know my dad's birthday, by the way), and inside was a pattern designed by Marureen Erhardt called Accordion Impression. It brought tears to my eyes, and to think it arrived on my dad's birthday was even more special, since that day is always particularly sad for me. It inspired me to get out my real accordion and play his favorites, and I did so for 2 hours straight. A special gift from a special lady. I cannot figure out a name -perhaps Amazing Grace, unless anyone can come up with something truly unique. Here's a photo of the quilt I made up yesterday using stash and a couple of new red fabrics (the accordion and clef are not secured yet - trying out different positions first). Also a photo of my real accordion given to me by my grandparents for my 8th Christmas, and I will never part with it. Thanks for reading my story. |
Beautiful story of friendship, love and memories. You did a great job making the quilt. Of all the names I keep trying in my head, I keep going back to just Amazing Grace. On the quilt label you can include:
Amazing Grace In memory of my father (and his name) Pattern by... Pattern given to me by..... quilt by.... and the date. That way in years to come others will know the story behind it. |
What a beautiful, creative quilt. How about "Sweet Memories"?
|
Thanks for sharing - a wonderful story and a beautiful quilt! I agree with QuiltingGrannie above - Amazing Grace and the label to pass the story on!
|
Yea, I like Melodies of Love
|
Beautiful. You did such a great job! I love it!
Accordian to Dad! |
That was a beautiful story and quilt. I like "Father's Accordian" Since the pattern arrived on his birthday, father must be included in the name. Please let us know what name you decide to give it.

If this were mine, I'd call it "Music Accordion to Papa" :) |
I keep coming back to Amazing Grace too.
This is beautiful! I have been looking for accordion fabric and patterns. I will need to search the 'net for it. Hubby plays the accordion each night. There are pics on here of him and his collection. On my facebook I have a video of him and 2 friends playing. You have made a beautiful quilt, which brings beautiful memories. Love it! Love it! Love it! |
Beautiful story !! Beautiful quilt !!
I'm not good at naming. |
thought of a few more..
Melodies from Heaven In Harmony with Dad The Music Lives On |
I have a very strange sense of humor, so how about "Accordion to Tradition".....
just the first thing that came to mind...I love that you're passionate about something not everyone is into. Me, I can play a kazoo like nobody's business! Now THAT's talent! Great job, by the way, keep up the good work and enjoy the journey! Gina |
Great story. And lovely wall hanging. It will bring wonderful memories of your father, and your new friend.

So very pretty! What a sweet story.

|
Beautiful story and quilt...lots of great names have been suggested, I don't think I can add something new :(
Your story reminded me of when I was a child. My parents (now in their late 80's) had an accordian like that in the back of the closet. We kids would pull it out now and then and pretend to play...What a racket!! But it was fun. I had not thought of those times in a long time. Thanks |
Love notes? Thank you for sharing.
|
What a wonderful story.

I love music and also am a musician.
The colors of your beautful quilt seemed to say to me "Symphony of Love" |
How about DAD'S, Amazing Grace. My husband took accordion as a child. Has three and can't reall play. Do like the music from an accordion.
|
Thanks for sharing your lovely story,
how about my love for Dad. |
Why not call it Amazing Grace?
