Postage stamp Quilt

1 Attachment(s)
It is no secret that my DH gets more sewing done than I do. Here is where his obsessive compulsive disorder kicks in! I do not have the patience to do this. But, didn't it turn out great? I'm proud of his accomplishments. I'm wondering how I'm going to quilt this one. Maybe with a large popcorn pantograph? What do you think?

#1piecemaker 10-11-2013 06:59 AM

Oh my gosh. The picture makes some of the blocks look wonky. But, they aren't. they are almost perfect match-ups.

key4unc 10-11-2013 07:01 AM

Oh Lordy, I wouldn't have the patience for that either. Just thinking about matching all those seams makes my head swirl.

PaperPrincess 10-11-2013 07:01 AM

Whoa! What a wonderful job! I do see a curvy type quilting pattern, so the popcorn would be great. What size squares did he use?

lfstamper 10-11-2013 07:03 AM

Wow really near! What size is this?

MaryMo 10-11-2013 07:11 AM

He must have the patience of Job to cut and sew all those. Fabulous!

josie bass 10-11-2013 07:13 AM

That is beautiful, you truly have a talented husband. it would take me for ever to do that and I don't think I would ever try. I love scrap quilts they are my favorite. Please let us see it after you have quilted it. Josie

Baloonatic 10-11-2013 07:41 AM

Holy...!! That is just awesome! How about a simple panto pattern, maybe clam shells?

Tartan 10-11-2013 08:05 AM

Wow, that's a lot of squares! I think a fairly open panto like the popcorn is the way to go. There are a lot of seams and anything too intricate is going to be difficult.

quilter1 10-11-2013 08:10 AM

That is an amazing quilt. Love it!

QuiltnNan 10-11-2013 08:20 AM

wow, that's a lot of patience

DebraK 10-11-2013 08:27 AM

Wow! look at all those itty bitty squares. Popcorn sounds good.

sewingsuz 10-11-2013 09:23 AM

Wow, this is just amazing.

He used 1.5 inch squares for this one. It is a queen size quilt.

lynnie 10-11-2013 09:27 AM

awesome quilt. I love scrappys and yours fits the bill.
very colorful and pretty

DonnaC 10-11-2013 09:29 AM

I'm curious - did he sew this by hand or by machine? Either way, it's fabulous!

He sewed this on the machine. I haven't taught him to use a needle and thread yet. Took me two years to get him to learn how to fill his own bobbins.

Love these PS quilts. I don't have the patience for all those little pieces, and I sure don't want to have to do all that pressing!! Great job though!

ann clare 10-11-2013 10:08 AM

WOW! He did a wonderful job.

Crafty1 10-11-2013 11:03 AM

I love it and it looks great!

CherryPie 10-11-2013 11:06 AM

Another awesome quilt done by your DH. There is no way I'd even attempt something that intricate!!! You'll have to show us the finished project. Love seeing his work!!!

Pennyhal 10-11-2013 11:07 AM

Oh my gosh! It is amazing that the colors blend so well and evenly across the quilt. I'd do an all over design, but on a smallish scale to go with the size of the blocks and use a mulit colored thread.

QUILTNMO 10-11-2013 11:18 AM

that is amazing quilt tell him to enter in a show!!!!

Diane007 10-11-2013 11:27 AM

Just love this one

Rose S. 10-11-2013 11:30 AM

Since no one else has ask, I have got to throw the question out....how many pieces! I was trying to count the number across and got interrupted...not even going to seriously ask how many different fabrics. That would be almost impossible to know.
Anyway, what a fabulous quilt top.

wolph33 10-11-2013 12:42 PM

wow-he does have patience.those are so tiny-no way I would attempt that-not yet anyway.

ube quilting 10-11-2013 12:44 PM

Awesome. Do you know how many pieces are in it?
peace

CoventryUK 10-11-2013 01:07 PM

Stunning!!!

Jingle 10-11-2013 01:43 PM

Beautiful. I was not given enough patience for that. He did a great job.

carolaug 10-11-2013 01:45 PM

I love postage stamps. Great way to use up scraps...this one is wonderful!

Babs194068 10-11-2013 01:50 PM

OMG what a great job you did on all those little squares!

Homespun 10-11-2013 01:55 PM

Love it, will be sending him more material next week.

Tweety2911 10-11-2013 02:43 PM

You sure are kept busy with your quilting skills....fantastic quilt and any allover design you choose will look great!!

GingerK 10-11-2013 02:51 PM

Awesome! The amount of thread alone, makes my mind boggle. Wow!

Grandma Peg 10-11-2013 03:27 PM

What a great quilt! He really does have patience. I have been working on a 2 1/2" square postage stamp or at least that is what I call it and don't know if it will ever get done.

Jackie Spencer 10-11-2013 04:45 PM

Wow!! Does he know how many little squares there are? That is awesome!!

DogHouseMom 10-11-2013 05:18 PM

love it!! I want to make a postage stamp one day with my bits of scrap.

As for quilting ... how about "block work" :) :) :)

Seriously, I think any all-over panto with curves will work. Baptist fan might be neat.

joyce888 10-11-2013 05:25 PM

OMG he must have the patience of 10 people! Great job!

Dingle 10-11-2013 05:25 PM

WOW! I want to do one of these some day. Thinking I might get real bored with it though. How long did it take him to do this?

gabeway 10-12-2013 03:14 AM

That's a lot of thread! Great job!
