Quilt for the winter months

1 Attachment(s)
This one is pretty heavy now that it is finished with flannel both front an back. It will go well in the family room, but the lighting was better here this afternoon. I hope you can imagine it on a grey couch. I have enough left over to make a matching pillow. I guess that is the next project to do.

Here is a little picture of it. The pattern is called, "Over and Down Under". Made with a jelly roll and yardage called Woolies.

great job--I've been coveting that pattern in the Keepsake Quilting catalog and both DIL & DD want it too-think that is why I haven't ordered it yet, I don't want them fussing at me!

Great colors - and I like that this pattern has the row ends pointed instead of squared off.

Looks cozy and sure to keep you toasty on a cold winter's day! Lovely colors also.

Did you like the way the flannel washed?

sinceresissy 10-22-2017 04:32 AM

I too have been looking at this pattern. It's a great looking quilt. You've done a good job making it. Just perfect!

quilterpurpledog 10-22-2017 04:36 AM

Wonderful quilt. Everything about it is just beautiful. I can imagine cuddling up under it in front of a nice fire and a good book on a nice snowy afternoon.

Innov8R 10-22-2017 04:47 AM

Striking and tasteful quilt!

sprice 10-22-2017 04:57 AM

Very nice! Bet the whole family will want to snuggle under it!

Beautiful quilt. I love the warmth and softness of flannel. What batting did you use?

maviskw 10-22-2017 05:47 AM

Love it. I especially like the colors of the strips going from top to bottom and side to side. Most of these that I have seen were made in blocks, and the rows end up with several different fabrics.

trolleystation 10-22-2017 06:25 AM

Love your quilt!

Wanabee Quiltin 10-22-2017 06:32 AM

Beautiful! I love the woven look. Flannel quilts are so cozy in the winter.

I used a Hobbs black 80/20 for the batting sailorwoman. I ordered it from connecting threads at the same time I found all of the other parts on e bay. I bought it all separately, but, I suppose you could just buy the kit. It made it kind of heavy, but, I am thinking once it is washed a few times, it will cozy up a little better.
I thought about making it from cotton, but, like so many of you gals said, flannel is cozy for the winter. It was a gift for hubby's couch.

Thank you all so much for the nice comments. I value your opinions.

Ohhh, I just want to wrap myself up in that. Beautiful quilt. I understood that this quilt was made from a flannel jelly roll, is that right? You didn't prewash did you, or the back? I really want that quilt.

SusieQOH 10-22-2017 08:59 AM

I love that quilt!!! I would hibernate all winter in it :)

zozee 10-22-2017 09:07 AM

Aaaaah, I could so love to snuggle up under that beauty and watch the snow fall as I sip hot chocolate. The colors are so relaxing.

I did pre-wash the backing to make sure it wasn't going to run or shrink. Then I lightly pressed out the small amount of wrinkles that was there from the wash. I pre-treated the batting by putting it into the washer and letting it spin out and drying in the dryer. The jelly roll would have been a nightmare to prewash, so nothing done to that. I will cold wash when I do clean it and use a cool dryer to fluff it, then hang to finish the drying.
