When I need to cut the block in two I make sure the doilies are well glued and well sewn before I cut it....I haven t had any problems with them yet, but I haven t washed any of the quilts .

Or do you just leave the doily as is and it is underneath the piece next to it? Wonderful way to showcase these handmade items that were used more frequently in previous generations! Your quilts are beautiful. I really like the quilt using the embroidered items. This summer I took a class from Kelly Cline called Vintage Quilting on using doilies, embroidered works, tea towels, ect. It got me excited for using antique needlework items for quilting, we used our domestic machines and rulers that she has developed. Class was really fun but way to short, I'm hoping she comes back to teach more. Time to hit the antique stores in the town where I live, you have inspired me.
