These are a couple of pictures of a quilt top that is waiting for its back to arrive. It is a quilt as you go and the batting is already sewn in. I got the idea from this blog: http://www.stitchedincolor.com/2011/...als-list.html. The Blog is 'Stitched in Color'. The plain colors are Kona Cotton and I just love the bright colors. It is going to be an 'after-surgery' quilt for next week for myself (making one for myself has only happend once before!) And, its easy and quick to make!
There are actually 16 different color sections. |
What a great quilt!
Here's the correct link to the blog (you had an extra . in the link): http://www.stitchedincolor.com/2011/...ials-list.html I've seen similar ones, but they all had a common background. I love the rectangle! blocks on bold background colors. I hope your surgery goes well and you have a speedy recovery. |
That is such a beautiful quilt and a great idea. It reminds me of mosaic tiles! So very pretty and a great way to use up scraps. Thanks for sharing.

That is beautiful. I'm glad you will have such a cheery quilt for your recovery (which I hope will be speedy). This looks like a fun project for dreary winter months so I think I might give it a try.

I guess I liked the quilt idea when I saw all of the white backgrounds with different colors on them. Its very concise and all of the different colors with the white pull all of the different scraps together. I had fun sitting on the floor with a colored sections and trying to figure out how they would all fit together on the white. Sort of like cutting pictures out of magazines when I was in school!

I did the same thing...made a quilt for myself before going into surgery. I made it out of flannel... With really bright colors. It was such a hit that my family has dubbed it the hospital quilt... And request it when they need to go to the hospital. It has really good vibes.
|
oh wow - that looks like such a fun quilt. I know I've got a ton of scraps that could work with one like that.. hmm :)
Best of luck with your surgery. |
I really like this and have bookmarked it. Will add it to my "to do" list. :-)

I really like and want to make one but, I don't understand how this was done. Was it glued or sewed? I was trying to see the stitches.
|
Great looking, so cheery! Best of luck with your surgery.

After you have sewed the colors, you sew it onto batting. Then, you cut some shapes out and lay them down like you want them. Then, I glued the pieces on, and you zigzap around the edge of each scrap of fabric.
|
that is so cool! i've never seen anything like that before... i love it! I must try this myself.
|
Very unique!!!!
