I finished piecing this top today and the realization hit me square in the face---I cannot finish this quilt for Christmas. So I have left my sewing room and chilled this afternoon. I had a cup of coffee, made my grocery list for the family Christmas get together and I'll start planning my quilting tomorrow!

This is a paper pieced pattern by Judy Neimeyer called Hawaiian Star. The colors are more brilliant than the photo and I am pretty happy with it even though I must work on the skills to do Y seams better.

The colors look pretty great to me, so if they're even brighter in person this is one truly amazing piece of work. Wonderful job.

Granny,
Judy Neimeyer has her own website (google her) I think she still sells this pattern. I got mine from Batiks Plus.

I bought it 2 years ago and had looked at it lovingly for the whole time. I was afraid to tackle it after I had read the instructions. But recently someone here on the board posted a picture of theirs and I was inspired.

Thanks for your kind words. Merry Christmas!
Roxanne

Your quilt is beautiful! I have been there before--slowly the realization hits that you won't make a deadline and after accepting it things just feel so much better.

DawnMarie 12-21-2010 02:55 PM

This is something I wouldn't mind having in my home. :)
Absolutely fabulous!

Lynnie25 12-21-2010 02:57 PM

Amazing quilt, love the colour combination. Glad to see you take a break and not rush to finish it before christmas - this beauty doesn't need to be rushed to completion.

absolutely wonderful

pab58 12-21-2010 07:39 PM

WOW!!!!! That is stunning!!! Was this a kit, or did you pick our the fabrics on your own? Were you planning on giving this as a gift? The recipient will be overwhelmed by its beauty!!! I have often had to give myself a reality check from time to time. I tell myself that I am only one person with only two hands and what I can get done I will get done. It isn't the end of the world if something I make doesn't get done "on time," and the receiver will love it just as much even if it's late. Things often interfere with the best laid plans, and we needn't be so hard on ourselves when we miss our self-imposed deadlines. 8-)

goofygirl2u 12-21-2010 07:48 PM

Wowser! That is one totally awesome quilt.

suebee 12-21-2010 08:01 PM
