Just in time for Valentine's Day. Maybe it will even be quilted by next V-Day!
Thanks for the inspiration, quiltmakers. I saw so many beautiful examples of Irish chains here. I really had fun. Happy Valentine's Day! |
Irish chains are still my favorite traditional pattern. I just never tire of them, especially when they are as pretty as this one. Great job Chele.
Beautiful - I love the red and white. :D :D
So beautiful :!: You did a great job
What they said. The borders are nicely done, too.
This looks fantastic, I can just imagine all the quilting motifs you are planning to add!! I look forward to seeing how you progress.
Wow, that is so gorgeous, and the colours are sooo pretty!
My favorite a red and white Irish chain :D
That quilt just makes you happy to look at it!
Another beauty by Chele! Love the red and white!!
Nice job Chele!

A true classic!
Are you going to hand quilt it or machine quilt it? |
I've been planning to do a red & white Irish Chain for a friend. You've motivated me to move it to the top of my to-do list!
That's an Irish Chain? I wasn't sure. It's basically a 9 patch with a solid square? Your colors are simply awesome. It has a Danish feel to it. :D
And look at that precision. Awesome job. Have you made others?? I'd love to see more!! |
Ohhh my gosh Chele!!! I love it love it love it!!! I may have to copy you one day, only add some redwork embroidery to the mix!!! That is absolutely beautiful girlfriend!
I love it.. the colors are simple and PERFECT.. great job!!
Great job Chele!! It is truely a work of art. I think Red work in the squares would be great too! I bought several embroidery transfers and was thinking of using them for Redwork. I think that Irish chain might be my plan. I like doing the Irish chains anyway. Can't wait to see what you are planning for the centers. :D
That looks really nice. I was looking for Irish Chain quilts too. I just got my top together and am in the midst of quilting it.........free motion. I'm playing it by ear so who knows how it's going to turn out. I think I need some lessons on free motion quilting and top quilting designing.
Very nice Irish Chain. I have thought of a red and white one for myself, but it's pretty far down the list for this year.
What is nice about the IC is the very nice white blocks that let you show off all sorts of hand or free motion or cross hatch quilting. Little frames for your art. Hope to see more, tim in san jose |
Chele--I keep coming back to peek at your masterpiece. Are there two different red prints? I just love how they compliment each other--the one from a distance has a mottled look--is that the right word? Kind of soft for a red. So pretty. I never think to use white--but every time I see one it's just stunning--so crips and clean looking. Like it belongs on a cottage bed with the ocean and sand out the window--on a breezy day. :D
:D Beautiful. Colors are super!!!! Nice going.
Greatttttttttttttttttttttt
Very pretty! I just can't wait to see it quilted...it will be a beauty!

You got yours done much faster than I did. I love your color choices. Mine was supposed to be a little different. I followed the instructions so well that I forgot that I wanted the darker color to be the double part of the chain. Oh well! I have no clue as to what I'm going to bind it with yet. Aren't we proudl?
jaquemoe, that's GORGEOUS! You're way ahead of me, look at that quilting! Did you do that? I adore your fabrics too. Now I want to try a double! So pretty!
Oh my gosh, jaquemoe!! That is fabulous!!! I love the colors and placement that you used!!
Thanks so much, Chele. Every quilt I make is a new challenge and a new experience. If I can do it, so can you. I've never taken a class but I've watched Alex Anderson and Elanor Burns shows. They have been very helpful.
Whoops. Chele, forgot to answer your question. I did do the quilting but I have a new cheater friend. That was practice free motion quilting. I NEED much more practice and a class or two.
Whoops again, I'm addressing the wrong person. It's been a long hard day. Thank you, Lois. Okay now  Thank you to both of you. It really has been a long hard day.
jacquemoe...what a beautiful quilt! I think I've used that border fabric myself...so...love the colors!
They are both beautiful...
Wow Jackie, I love your quilt! The color choices are very soft and it makes me want to steal it from you and put it on my bed. If you ever need to find it a home, let me know and I'll send you my address.
~Tiffany |
Thank you so much, Tiffany. I haven't really made very many quilts but I'll keep trying new challenges.
Thank you, Sandpat. The fabric was from Elanor Burns. I kind of liked the idea of cheating on the border.
HI KARLA! I see you like horses also. There is a site that has a beautiful ful picture of 3 horses called "WE THREE KINGS" racing horses in England. Susan Crawford, painted a picture of them and I am fortunate to one one of her paintings. Interesting article. If you can't find let me know.
Now it is time to go dane in the snow! :) Helen Western SD :D |
Karla: I should learn to type, I meant Dance in the snow!
Helen  |
Wow jacquemoe--your quilt is gorgeous!! You girls make me want to try one--but all those intersections to get perfect.....hmmmm. Maybe looking at yours is good enough.
HJ--yup--I do like horses. |
Chele....did you sew it on your red machine?....It must have been fun working on it with the red machine....
Very nice quilt....congratulation... :D |
That looks great! Not boring to me! And even if you quilt with white thread in the open sections, it will look wonderful!
Keep up the good work! You are really producing a lot! (Making me look bad! I guess I am a slacker lately!) |
jacquemoe that is beautiful it looks very elegant!! It looks like it should be in a beautiful Victorian bedroom. I do so love rose florals!!
