I finally finished a remake of an old quilt that was my son's security blanket as he grew up that is now, sadly, little more than rags. For his 27th birthday he asked me to make it again because he missed his old quilt. So, dear son, here it is! It's hand pieced and hand quilted. Thanks for taking a look. |
How sweet and great quilt! Good job, mama!
It looks fabulous. I can see why your son loved it so much. It is bold and graphic and masculine. And, the best compliment you could receive was a request for a repeat. So, two  mom. You did good. By the way, enjoyed your quilt story and love the pattern!
A request for a remake has got to be the best of best compliments. That's a wonderful quilt & he will enjoy it forever.
I'm just amazed you remembered the pattern!! lovely quilt!!!
Your son will love this quilt! And you hand pieced and quilted it, too. Just saw the other quilt you hand pieced and quilted. Amazing and both beautiful.
What a beautiful quilt for your son to love. It has a special story. Love your helpers. The quilt looks like it is floating in air.
It's a beautiful quilt and it's a beautiful story. Thank you for sharing both.

Beautiful quilt and beautiful setting!!
That's great!
High compliment indeed......stunning work of artistry. Just beautiful...
Lovely remake!
Best compliment ever--and I can see why he wanted that same quilt again. Timeless. Eye-catching. Bigger this time, right?
Beautiful quilt! Love the black and white!

Sorry, the pattern doesn't have a name. I just made it up. A friend said it looked like blackberries, so I call it "Voilą les mūres" (or just "Blackberries"). If you look carefully, you'll see that there are 4 x 5 blocks made up of 4 triangles. Each triangle has a kite, two longer right triangles and two shorter equilateral triangles. I hope that helps.

Wow, what a wonderful pattern and beautiful quilt. What a great mom you are! I’m sure he will treasure his new quilt for years.
What a happy story to go along with your amazing quilt.
What a beauty and I love the story behind it.
What a great quilt. I can see why he wanted another one.
It's a real complement to be asked to duplicate a beloved quilt. Great quilt and beautiful setting to photograph it in.
I can see why he wanted another one just like it! I think you could sell this pattern, it is much nicer than many for sale!

Thanks, red-warrior, but I'd rather that people just copy it. I'd be honoured if they did. Besides, quilting is already expensive, so one fewer item to purchase is a bonus, don't you think?
What a great gift from mother to son. Awesome!!!
Mother and son in agreement over the love stitched into a quilt. He'll feel your love wrapped around him when he sleeps beneath it.
What a beautiful quilt! Tres talente madame :o)
Love this. no wonder he wanted another just like the first.
That's beautiful. Love the design. And all hand-done. What a marvel!
nicely done, love the black and white
Oh wow, love this one.
Absolutely beautiful quilt.
I'd buy a pattern!

Great pattern! I'm trying to pick it apart as you suggested, because it's so intriguing.
Beautiful quilt and what a lucky son to receive his second security and well loved quilt. Love the scenery around you too. Thx for sharing. You are a great Mom to do this for him-we never stop doing for our children do we?

If you ever decided to write up the pattern, I'd be first in line to purchase! Beautiful
I don't know if this will help. I made an outline of the templates and scanned it. It's on a standard 8.5" x 11" piece of paper. You'll need 1 kite shape, two right angle triangles, and two of the other triangles for each quarter block. Do be careful, though, because the pattern involves mirror images. |
Love, love, love this quilt! What is the pattern name, please?
