Well, here's my attempt at my first bed runner. I still need to quilt it but I wanted to get your take as to how this is coming along. (I deliberately made it shorter than most because I didn't want to cover up the nice scalloped edges of the quilt). AND for those of you that quilt on a regular (read: very non-fancy basic) sewing machine, how would you quilt this if this were your first attempt at FMQ? I'm biting the bullet and trying my hand at this on this bed runner. I figure since it's for myself and not being given away...it's a good place to start. ;-) Oh, and what color binding would you suggest?
Once this is done, I'm going to just sit awhile on this project so ideas might come to me on the wall hanging and/or head board ideas for the head of the bed. As you can see it's bare. I'll put an old picture up in the meantime. Thanks for any input you have! Karen This was my first attempt at raw edge applique, tube piecing and making yoyo's. Such fun! The flowers are called French Roses and will fray nicely when washed |
Thats really cute. Can't wait to see it quilted
It's beautiful!
The bed runner is fabulous! I love the buttons and the yo yo's. Good job.
Sorry, can't help with the FMQ ideas -- haven't tried that. I would probably hand quilt this piece instead. I like to hand quilt small things, to keep practicing. Good luck! |
Wow! That is sooo pretty!! Love your fabrics!! Well done!!
ohhh thats perfect great job and a lovely addition to a charming room
How complex do you want to quilt? If you want something simple, you could do a simple meander with a small flower thrown in here and there. It will be much easier to quilt if you remove the buttons and yo yo's and re-attach them after quilting.
nice job

I wondered about the buttons and yoyo's but figured I'll just quilt around them. I really, really don't want to remove them at this point if I can help it! |
I love it! Looks great on your bed. :)
Love your bed runner :) I'd bind with the tan/whitish color.
Very nice Karen - How about pebbling in white areas, then of course some SID. As for the binding - how about the darker brown. That would like real nice. Great job!! Sue

ADORABLE!!
Love the pillows and the bedrunner. Those french look like a fun project. Can't really help with the quilting since I do not do FMQ myself but I think I would go with either pink or brown binding. I really like the soft colors you used. They are so pretty together.
Great job! I really love the colors you used. The roses and the yoyos really set it off to. As to the quilting, I really don't know since I have never done machine quilting, only hand quilting.
Very beautiful runner. I love the embellishments and yo yo's and colors, and the flowers, ahhhhh. Then there is the pillows to match. I love it!!
Wow. Beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Oh and I have that same ET that is on your bed. My dd loved him so I kept him and all his little figurines. It always amazes me how people see things other than what you post....and I just did it too. "cuse me please. ♥♥
How cute is that??? Adorable !!!
Oh my word, how cute. love it!!!
Very pretty! I would first stich in the ditch around the square blocks. This will stablize the quilt and make it easier for your first FMQ project (you still need to pin really well). Then go with a simple meander or loops.

I love it! Great job!

Oh, that came out SO cute! What a great design you came up with - I love the embelishments!
LOVE IT! It is so beautiful!!
OOOhhhhh! That is so pretty! Very dainty and feminine!
Awesome job! |
Just so BEAUTIFUL! Your fabric choices and design are just exquisite! The yoyos and buttons-it's all perfect! Quilt it with something curvy and feather-like if you are capable. This is gorgeous, I know I wouldn't be able to do it justice with FMQ, I'd hand quilt it or send it to Charisma.
I LOVE it!! A smaller version of the runner would make a cute matching headboard. :D:D:D
I think it is going to be perfect.
I LOVE it! The room looks so much more cozy and inviting already!
So nice -- redoing the spare room and keeping the bed runner idea in my mind. Waiting to see your quilted.
That came out beautiful, I love it. Great work
Beautiful! Looks like ET found his way home, too!
Nice
Everything is oh so sweet. Just perfect. I'm sure inspiration will hit one of these days for the headboard. Can't wait to see what happens.
very nice, I see ET is liking it as well....LOL
Love your mini-makeover .. great fabric choices
Very pretty! I would do pink binding. As for quilting I would do SID to anchor center down and then do simple stimpling in the outside triangles (stimpling since it is your 1st try) or maybe a simple flower in the triangles.
Very very cute... You did such a nice job on these projects!
I think it is great. Such a great make-over for that room!!! E.T. looks so cute on the bed too. :)
How adorable! I am no expert... but here are my suggestions:
For quilting: Would echo on the big flowers; pebble the white triangles; and SID the square blocks. Binding: I would use the green/yellow you have used on the pillows. Be sure and show pics when you are done! |
