My sister (in her 90s) recently went to a nursing home. She had a collection of quilt tops she had been buying at estate sales, garage sales, etc. She sent them all to me, knowing I quilted. Most are hand pieced. One (double wedding ring) was made by my mother probably 50 years or so ago, maybe even longer. She was born in the 1800s and died about 40 years ago. That one I may hand quilt, but the rest I won't live long enough to hand quilt them all. There are 20 or 30 of them. I will start machine quilting the least of them at first. By the time I get through with them all I should be pretty good! This thread convinced me this is what I should do.

I think it depends on the quilting. The kind you did is wonderful! I have see some big stipples on quilts like this(just meandering) that I felt wrecked the quilt. Yours didn't do that :)

Simply Amazing!!! The colors, quilting, and pattern.

You did an outstanding job on this quilt, I absolutely love it!

That is fabulous, stunning, stupendous! I love it. What a marvelous job you did. I'm too lazy to read all 8 pages of comments, but I can't believe there is anyone who does not love this quilt and your quilting of it.

Well... if there was any question that machine quilting is superior, it sure will stop the arguement with this picture.
WOW! What a beauty this quilt is. Thanks so much for sharing it with us. Do you quilt for hire? I went back and found your link to the blog and web sites... :~) |
An amazingly, beautiful treasure. She brought it to the right person (you). I think it is fantastic!
