Rose Scrap Quilt Top - UFO Almost Done!

4 Attachment(s)
In pursuit of finishing UFOs, I pulled out a pile of scrappy rose blocks that I put together before I had a firm grip on measuring. Yeah, I know I should be ashamed of myself and probably should have tossed these blocks ... but I didn't. At least I got the vertical and horizontal seams to match up but sad to say, what's going on inside those blocks ... well you'll see.
Happily, it is so busy that I don't think it much matters. I plan on quilting the heck out of it so hopefully the points that go this way, that way, and the other way too won't be so obvious.
Either way, it's for me to curl up with in front of my fireplace while I enjoy my Elm Creek Quilt novels :o

Oh that is soooo beautiful!!!!! I would never have thought to put all those fabrics together. I love it though!!!!

Grandma Bonnie 08-07-2012 08:12 AM

It's beautiful ~ and will serve it's purpose well even if it doesn't have perfect points!!

Krystyna 08-07-2012 08:19 AM

Sunbonnet and Grandma Bonnie, you are both so kind. I think you've inspired me to knuckle down and get the quilting done!

brenda21 08-07-2012 08:24 AM

perfect points or not it is beautiful....love the fabrics...and the quilt police won't be at your house....

nygal 08-07-2012 08:36 AM

The fabrics are so pretty.

rwquilts 08-07-2012 08:37 AM

Krytyna...I LOVE your yummy rose fabrics! Eye popping candy for sure! What novel are you on? I may have to catch up...love Sylvia and her gang! :)

Krystyna 08-07-2012 08:42 AM

Brenda, my husband thinks he is a member of the quilt police force!
Ronda, Only on book two. I treated myself to three of the three-in-one hardcovers. Love it. Up to Round Robin and Bonnie's stinky husband having a computer affair.

Put in a heavy poly batting and actually, don't quilt it to death, just put on a lovely easy going pattern and you will like it a bit better. To much quilting on something like this actually shows the boo boos more. At least in my experience. That is my thought. I like these kinds of quilts because we can look back and reflect how far we have come in our skills and learning. The fabrics are so busy, no worries in my book for ya. I have a couple of these also and the kids love to use them because they seem to have the most comfort.

joyce blint 08-07-2012 08:55 AM

Busy?? I guess so, it just reminds me of being in the middle of a beautiful rose garden. Thanks for sharing.

Lv2sew2011 08-07-2012 09:13 AM

I think it will be very beautiful I can't to see it completed! Love the colors!

buslady 08-07-2012 11:00 AM

Krystyna, that is lovely. I just love the roses. When I look at it it reminds me of my mom, she loved roses. Until you did the close up, I could not even see the missing points. I'd say you planned it that way. Use it and love it. I do agree that is shows how far you have come in hour quilting. I really see it maybe even double batted and tied very loosely!! I don't know why, but that is exactly what I envisioned when I first say it. A nice fluffy comforter that just cusions you will lovely roses, like you were rolling in them. Less the pickers, of course!! LOL You are an inspiration!

Wanabee Quiltin 08-07-2012 11:03 AM

This is a beautiful quilt, thanks for showing it to us.

liont 08-07-2012 11:06 AM

It's like a bed of roses. Very romantic.

Onalee, I never thought of double batting. Not only am I attempting to use up my stash of fabric, but also my stash of batting. And there is PLENTY of it. The last estate sale I went to ... 24 bags at $1 each! How could I leave them there? Impossible!

Judith1005 08-07-2012 11:27 AM

Beautiful fabric Krystyna. Hope you get it quilted before winter sets in. It should chase away the winter blahs with all the beautiful roses in it to remind you that spring will come again. :)

Dragonfly Nana 08-07-2012 11:31 AM

Real roses are never truly symmetrical so what makes you think that you quilt should be? I'm just saying...... non perfect points and all it is a beauty!

Linny 08-07-2012 11:51 AM

Krystyna- your quilt is beautiful.....it reminds me of a cozy cottage..fresh and a bright rose floral to liven the room up.

PenniF 08-07-2012 12:00 PM

i have to agree with the "poofier" batting idea - and maybe just knotted.....it's beautiful...made me smile just looking at it. how nice that will be on a cold winter night to snuggle under !!! no way you could not feel cheerful !!!

Aunt Janey 08-07-2012 12:17 PM

Love the roses in your quilt. Who will notice the points anyway??? One thing I want to know is when do you find time to read. Your veils, the DQ swaps and also the regular quilts. Some body said it would make them think of a cottage and since you live in one by the sea it is really great.

laurafet 08-07-2012 12:49 PM

Well, I think it is beautiful! Like you said, the quilting will minimize the "off-joint" seams and points. Great job!!

annthreecats 08-07-2012 12:49 PM

Pink roses are my favorites. I love all that material together. Have fun quilting it.

Aunt Janey, books last me a long, long time. When I finally get a chance to read in the evening, 9 times out of 10 I fall asleep with the book on my face! I need to designate some down time for it!

Here's a photo of "Somewhere by the Sea" -- my little seaside cottage -- taken quite a few years ago so the garden looks quite different -- the icky planter is gone -- and the porch has wicker furniture, shades and an old cast iron dining set from the 1920s.
The photo looks a little odd because it's used for the background on my artisan jam brochure.

Really nice work. Looks great Krystyna!!!!

TanyaL 08-07-2012 06:50 PM

I think those are beautiful fabrics

ArtsyOne 08-07-2012 06:58 PM

The way you put all those different rose fabrics together makes it look like a huge English rose garden. Love love love it! As far as the points go, just tell the quilt police that those are wonky center blocks instead.
