Hi all, just coming to say hello and check in. I am going to be super busy the next week. I have a few things to finish up. Then I will be able to give my full attention to Jillnjo's beautiful center. I'm pretty sure of what I want to do so far. I have my fabric all set. I am going to do a demo of the border before I attach to make sure it's going to work out like I planned. But, I will check back later to say Hello. And show a finished project with you. It's for my grandbaby. It won't be long bhttp://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/...r/SAM_0613.jpgefore he's here.
I think they came out just darlin. I am getting so excited. Yall have a good Sunday. (I have to get back to work.)

jillnjo 08-12-2012 09:57 AM

Very cute, Judith! Is this your first grandbaby?

I have peaches off our trees to take care of and tomatos to harvest. This week looks very full. I cleaned up my sewing room when I completed the blocks for a wedding gift and now I'm waiting to start the next big mess! (In my kitchen and my sewing room!).

I can only wonder what you are planning to add to my center!! I know I'll love it!

It's such a beautiful Sunday here. Sunny, cool and not dry anymore!

sewhappy30 08-13-2012 03:53 PM

I received Paula's center over the weekend. It is just beautiful!! I have some ideas swirling around in my head. I need to go to the fabric store to get some batiks, yeah!! a trip to buy fabric.

Dragonfly Nana 08-13-2012 04:51 PM

Judith those are just adorable.
Gena - sorry that you "have" to go shopping - NOT!:D

jillnjo 08-17-2012 04:27 AM

Hi, friends!! I am so busy this week, but it feels good to see all the pretty canning jars lined up on my counter. Today is my last day of freezing peaches for the year, I pray. I'm going over to my daughters to help her. Yaya, I have settled on what I want to do to your center!! My mom is coming next week and I am taking her to 2 new quilt shops in our area-can't wait to see the fabric. I hope to find the perfect fabric for the first round. We are so blessed to have rain here and it looks like spring again, my pots are starting to grow like crazy! Everyone take care and happy sewing! N.

Judith1005 08-24-2012 06:16 PM

Hi everybody, How are yall doing? Yes, jillnjo, this is my first GRANDBABY! Can you tell I'm excited. Only about 6 more weeks to go. I can't wait to meet the new little man in my daughters life. Have been very busy wrapping up some loose ends and sketching out a few possible designs for the "flimsy" visiting my house. She says to tell you that there are a lot of furry friends to meet her aquaintence. (don't worry, I'm keeping her nice and safe.) She's been whispering very good things that she would like me to add to her. ;) Hope yall are having a good weekend.:)

jillnjo 08-25-2012 04:58 AM

Judith, I love furry friends, too! We don't have a house pet now. We have 2 Jack Russell mixed breed dogs outside and they do come in on the tile in the cold evenings. They wouldn't even want in now. I love them both, but would enjoy a house dog. We once had a Shitzu that did not shed and I am ready for another dog, preferably a non-shedder, but I know hubby isn't overly excited about it, although I could talk my way into it!! :D

Karen, I have the first round completed on your star!! I am happy with how it looks. I could add a bit to it, but beautiful quilting may do more than anything I'd add! One thing I find hard is knowing that the fabrics we each choose will most likely not be added in succeeding rounds and I'm not used to designing a quilt or choosing fabrics without seeing the whole quilt in my mind. So I tend to want to keep it simple. (not that that is always right) A learning curve for me.

Do we send on now, or wait to closer to the deadline? Nancy

joyce j 08-25-2012 05:14 AM

I love each an every one of the center block. Going to be some beautiful quilts. joyce j

sewhappy30 08-25-2012 05:50 AM

Hi everyone.. I've been very busy these past couple weeks, life sure gets in the way of my fun sometimes.lol I have however, made it to the fabric store and picked out some fabric for Paula's round, still need to decide what I'm going to do for it. Nancy I'm like you, especially for the first round it usually seems to me that simple is best and then as it gets bigger I can see so many more options to add.

Hope everyone is doing well, I'm glad we have 2 months to finish each round, looks like I may need it. lol

As for sending the quilt when your done, just check with who you send it to and ask them, if there ok with it then that's fine. We just don't want to overwhelm anybody.

Judith1005 08-25-2012 10:36 AM

Jillnjo, I'm next in line for the flimsy your holding. You can send it anytime your ready. I want to finish as much as I can before my daughters baby comes. I will be out of town for about 2 weeks around that time. I will keep it safe until it's ready to be passed on.

Dragonfly Nana 08-25-2012 05:36 PM

Hi all - I met MsCupid804 from here on the board today. What a great time we had coffee, lunch, and then shopping! I picked up a second fabric to use on Judith's center. I did not have enough of the "perfect" fabric in my stash so I bought more and now I can start sewing tomorrow. Yeah.
I also found what I think will be a great fabric for Tam..moo's center. I get hers for the 7" round so will wait until I have it to be sure.

Judith1005 08-25-2012 06:43 PM

Paula, that is so awesome. It is so much fun to meet other QBr's. And shopping to boot. What's not to like. :) I'm glad my flimsy is whispering words of encouragement and being good. Have a Happy Sunday everyone!!

Judith1005 08-25-2012 06:51 PM

Jillnjo, I have seen some pretty amazing round robin quilts here in the quilt board archives. Simple sometimes "just" works. And, I'm sure if we really wanted to add in a fabric from someone else's round...we could ask if they have any left. But, it is pretty amazing how they just seem to come together with or without keeping the same fabrics in each round. Sometimes the neutral color in each round binds them together. (In several of the flimsy's white is a constant neutral.)Try not to think to far past one round at a time. :) It's all going to come out great.

Keep me posted on the status of your furr babies. I'm sure when the time is right, you will welcome into your home the perfect furr baby to love that will just "fit". I can't imagine life without mine.

I have the two dogs and a cat (Who lives in the guest bedroom. She has issues. She was my daughters cat from when she was much younger. About 13 years.) And, my mom has 2 german shepards and 2 humongous cats. Mine is teeny in comparison. Sometimes, it is a very full house. lol :)

Hi Robinettes, I found an older thread with lots of pictures for RR's if you'd like some more inspiration.http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...rs-t59819.html

Hi Robinettes! I just got finished with my 3rd Round Robin and thought I would post my quilts for you all! Everyone who worked on these beauties has my heartfelt gratitude for their talent and creativity!

Dancing Cranes...just finished Roaming Rounds

Cosmic Dreams- finished last year

Chocolate Star- finished last month

Judith1005 08-27-2012 06:38 PM

Oh wow, Miss Gigglewings, These are awesome. Thank you so much for sharing your treasures! Love, Love, Love!

jillnjo 08-28-2012 05:07 AM

They are all great!!! What fun you must have had putting rounds on everyone's quilt!

Judith1005 09-05-2012 01:31 PM

Jillnjo, I can't find if I posted and let you know I DID receive Yaya's quilt flimsy. (I'm sorry!) I have finished with your flimsy Jillnjo. I LOVE how it came out. I hope you do too. Paula, when your ready to receive Jillnjo's flimsy, just let me know. (I know it is very early.) And, I do need to journal Jillnjo's flimsy's stay at my house. So, not quite ready to pass it on. But, almost. :) I hope you ladies are having a good week. :)

jillnjo 09-06-2012 05:15 AM

Judith, I did check online and saw that it had been delivered, so I wasn't worried! But I am glad I could track it's progress to your house. My week has been nice and slow for once!

dahlshouse 09-06-2012 05:28 AM

Your quilts are fantastic Miss Gigglewings...

Babs194068 09-06-2012 10:29 AM

Very pretty!

Dragonfly Nana 09-06-2012 02:18 PM

Judith - you can send when you are ready. I have a very organized house so no chance of loosing it along with my mind LOL
I may have to rethink what I was doing for you - DH gave it a poor review.:( Waiting to hear from the others in this group with quilter opinions then I will decide for certain.

Judith1005 09-06-2012 02:36 PM

I'm not worried Paula, I'm sure it will be great when you figure out the direction you want to go. Sorry hubby wasn't on board with your first try.

I hate to say, My mom kind of gave me grief on my first round also. So we compromised and I love how it came together. I hope Jillnjo does also. And, I photographed it, it helps me to step back and view it in a different way. :) I will let you know when I send it on to you. Like you, I also try to stay very organized. I am not a fan of misplacing something. You know, a place for everything and everything in its own place. (Yes, hand raised, I do have a few OCD moments. lol)

cowgirlquilter 09-06-2012 02:38 PM

These are stunning.........

jillnjo 09-07-2012 05:00 AM

I notice, too, how looking at a picture of a block really helps me to see more clearly what I like or don't like about it. I think I need to take a picture of the doll quilt I pieced-something bugs me about it, but I guess I'll just go with it! I don't want to get "more bugged" and have to rip!

I'm sure I will love what you added to my center, Judith. I am realizing that I like to do quilts and blocks with other people! I have a small pile of swapped blocks and love to look at them, but haven't made a quilt yet! I love selecting a block pattern and pulling some fabric and seeing what I can create-then sending it off to a friend.

Tam-moo, I saw that you are joining the row robin here on the board! You are going to be busy this winter! I will be watching to see what everyone chooses. I think a row robin would be fun, too.

I like order around me and my hubby likes it even more, which I think amazes my daughters. They both have hubbys that can make a mess and walk around it cheerfully-so guesss who gets to pick it up! Aren't we so like the home we were raised in? My MIL is queen-of-clean to a point that drove me crazy, but I live with her every day:p-I sometimes call him "Lois" instead of the name she gave him! I shouldn't complain, all in all, it has been a blessing to our family.

I have apples from our tree to make sauce with soon, I'm tired of canning and freezing, but get to enjoy it all winter. My mom is 91 and she still cans for herself! Not much, but I guess she does what she has always done, and it keeps her feeling perky! Enjoy the coming week end, all!

Dragonfly Nana 09-07-2012 07:08 PM

jillnjo you are lucky to live with other "orderly" people. My DH is the king of "where did I put it" but I have learned to live with it as long as it is HIS stuff and not mine that goes missing. LOL
and no - he is not allowed in my sewing room! :D

Judith1005 09-08-2012 05:56 PM

Jillnjo, I am totally enjoying the block swaps also. I am signing up to join the Monthly quilting bee swap also. I thought it would be fun. And, I truly love and enjoy the themed swap block swaps also. I just need to actually finish a quilt top from one of them. I'm working on my Good Ol' Summertime swap blocks right now. It's a lot like playing tetrus. I still have some moving around on them a little. (I also think I need to add in just a couple extra blocks.) But, I'm not sure yet.

Tam Moo, I thought about joining the row robin also. But, I really stress myself if I take on too much. So, I decided to save that for next year. But, You'll have to share the link for your group. I'd love to see how your row grows. :)

How are yall doing? Are you making progress with your centers. I will be pulling Yayaquilts center out next week to do a little sketching and decide on my border. I just LOVE red*white*blue. I made my son a patchwork RWB quilt for his bed. It was one of my first LARGE quilts. And, I quilted it and didn't even realize I'd put the backing bottom of the fabric on top. lol, It wouldn't have mattered if the fabric hadn't been directional. Yep, it was definitely a DOH' moment. Lesson learned. NO directional fabric for backings. lol It was all finished before I realized my mistake. (He loves it anyway.)

I promise, scouts honor, NO border shall be put on upside down. lol

Hope your all having a good weekend.

MTM5109 09-08-2012 06:07 PM

Oh, holy cow! I was just (last thursday at Guild) talking about the dream of participating in a Round Robin......I have an idea of how to start one. I had thought that One quilter started One center and passed it along....It seems that each quilter does a center and sends it along the choosen path.....I am inspired... Thanks to much....Bless Quilters All

Dragonfly Nana 09-08-2012 06:11 PM

Hey - has anyone heard from Sewhappy30? She hasn't posted since 8/25 and no answer to my email from 9/4 yet.
Hope all is ok with her.

I received Gena (Sewhappy)'s center square from Tammy, but haven't heard from her myself. Yicks! I'm behind. Now I have two centers. But I just returned from a great vacation! Loved seeing the sites in Wash DC, Virginia and Outer Banks, No Carolina. I won't be able to sew much, though, because my daughter, SIL and 3 granbabies (5, 2, 1) moved in for about a month or so waiting on buying a condo. It will great having them right here for a while,:o but also quite chaotic around our otherwise quiet household.Youngest one will be sleeping and napping in my sewing room, which will definitely limit my sewing :(. Please bear with me--I may not finish my first center till the due date!

sewsew busy 09-11-2012 09:57 AM

I am new on the QB and I love to see what every one is doing. There are so many talented quilters on this board. Thanks to all for sharing.

Judith1005 09-11-2012 11:28 AM

Hey Paula, I'm just giving you a heads up. I have sent Nancy's quilt top on to you today. Hope you like what you see. :)

I am happily pulling fabrics for Karen's quilt top. Round 3 for me. It is so exciting. I love Nancy's addition. It really sets the tone for what I'd like to try. :)

Welcome back Karen. Sounds like you were having a good time with the grandbabies!! I can't wait to share in those memories. Our little "Brantley" will be here soon.

Sorry, I haven't heard from SewHappy yet either since the last post. I hope all is ok and she will be in touch soon.(?)

sewhappy30 09-11-2012 01:44 PM

Hey girls, sorry for the delay in posting, but where I work the last of the month and the first of the month are very hectic for me. I've been putting in some loooong days. I'm also doing an online Bible study reading the Bible through in a year which has video teachings each day and I am loving it, learning so much.

I did get Dragonfly Nana's border done over the weekend and will be mailing to Tam...moo by the end of the week. I really like hers I can't wait to see the end results.

Glad to hear everyone is having a good time with this round robin, It's alot of fun!

kiffie2413 09-11-2012 02:05 PM

Beautiful blocks all!!!

Dragonfly Nana 09-11-2012 02:26 PM

Karen and Gena - Sounds like you both are having fun with life (though not the long work days)
Judith - I will let you know as soon as Nancy's center arrives. I already have a spot reserved on my design board for it. Now if I can just get the redesigned round for yours done while hubby is traveling.......I should be able to mail on to Gena by the end of the week.
Then I can listen to Nancy's talk to me as I finish three quilts by the end of November.
Off to the sewing room!

Judith1005 09-11-2012 02:31 PM

Welcome back SewHappy, very very glad to hear all is OK. That sounds like an interesting online class. It's fun when we find something that we really really enjoy.

Judith1005 09-11-2012 02:33 PM

Wow, you are busy busy busy. It's so much fun when your are busy and ENJOY what your doing. And, thank you.

I hope I can do as well with my round. We get 5" to work with in this 2nd round correct?
