Our guild is doing a round robin that kind of breaks the rules. We are in charge of our own project...no swapping. Our borders can 'swoop' into other borders too! So, here's mine so far.
The border assignments are as follows: 1. Square 2. Triangle 3. Applique (allowed to swoop) 4. Paper Piece 5. Something gathered 6. I'll find out on Tuesday. The yo-yo's aren't tacked down yet...just in case I want to 'swoop' them into border #6. :) Thanks for looking! Original Picture |
Great job. Your borders really enhance the center. Can't wait to see next round.:)
awesome pic, you did a great job.
Excellent on all counts!
That is so cool. I think I'd like keeping my own quilt and having assigned borders. I wouldn't mind others doing my quilt, but I would be so nervous doing someone else's. :-D
OMG, how incredible is that! Wow! Just WOW!
this is priceless
yo-yo snowballs and rickrack mitten strings - you really can think outside the box |

Great piece - I love the center especially as well as all the borders!!

I love how you did the picture of your husband and child. Now how did you get it so precise. I think that would be neet to make for the children next year for Christmas.

I LOVE that!!!!! I have a picture of my niece petting a miniature horse when she was about 5 years old that I want to do. I'm thinking that she will get it for either her 16th birthday or for her high school graduation. She's 11 years old now.

This is such an awsome square. You did such a beautiful job!!!
Lovely quilt! You did a wonderful job. What a novel idea - to do your own round robin. We want to see it after it's completed.
That's awesome
Dawn ... I just love this picture quilt. I have been wanting to try my hand at it. Did you use a book to get the method down? Yours looks very real.
Ok. Maybe I'm just having an emotional day because my husband had to go away for a month...but when I looked at your quilt and the picture that inspired it...it made me tear up. It is absolutely beautiful. I love everything about it, and I can't wait to see the finished project.
That is fantastic!
I love it. Great job.  Was it hard to do?
Your quilt is fantastic and I especially love the use of yoyos as snowballs and swooping them into other borders. Very cool.... pun intended!
Beautiful quilt!
I will watch this topic to see HOW you did the center panel. |
That is a darling quilt. I love it. The fabric in your border we are using behind small stars in a raffle quilt we are doing with one of my groups. I love that fabric.
WOW, that is great, would love to know how to take pictures and recreate them in fabric.
Wow that is really lovely
OMG, how do you do that? I've gotta try! That's just awesome! I recently retired and didn't have alot of time to quilt while I was running my business. I apparently missed out on alot. Please send me a link or let me know what to google.
This is so neat, another one I have always wanted to try...but probably won't ever. If I had all the quilts done that I have wanted to, I would have a bunch...lol
Super job !!!
Really outstanding lifetime memory quilt |
In 2008, I decided that I was going to make a pictorial quilt from an actual photograph. With a little help from Photoshop, I was able to edit the photo enough to see what kind of pieces and how many fabrics I would need to recreate it. I made a template and enlarged it. From there, it was a lot of cutting and placing fabric here and there.
I am in the process of writing a book about it with a goal to have it finished and copyrighted this year. |
OMG that is beautiful!
That center panel is sooo cool.
oh my Goodness! This quilt will be in your family forEver. It's Wonderful. :-)
Wow! Very nice job!
I love this! Did you take a class or do you have a book that shows how to make a quilt from a picture? I have a picture of my grandson fishing that I would love to make into a quilt but I have absolutely no idea where to start or how. Thanks for sharing!
