The Sad Little Elephant
2 Attachment(s)
I am almost completely mortified to post this but here it goes. I was in need for a gift for a friend who collects elephants and also sews. After some help from a board member I finally got a pattern for a stuffed elephant and decided to make a pincushion. I was so excited to make this but knew that it may be a challenge for me since I still have not mastered sewing curves or using very small pieces. So today I sat down determined to complete this. After about two hours of sew and rip, sew and rip the little guy is done. Needless to say Eddie (that is what I have named him) is SAD. His front legs are smaller than his back ones, his forehead is smushed in, there is a hump on the front of his back, and his trunk has a crook in it. His ears came out great though. LOL. Eddie is so sad that I now have to decide should I stitch a happy face or a frown on him. Oh by the way did I mention I forgot his tail. So I decided I would let yo guys decide happy face or sad face. Eddie will still be going to this friend with of course another gift that I'm sure she will love. He will have an adoption form explaining that after much care by a well intention caregiver he now needs a loving home with someone that can appreciate his oddities. So with much distress I now present to you Eddie, (the sad little elephant):o

You sure Eddie wants pins stuck on him? Ouch.

Holy elephant batman...dont know why you are so mortified, you did a fantastic job on this. Its adorable. Your friend will be sooooooooooooooooooooo happy. I WANT ONE NOW :)
My son loves elephants too. I think you did a great job.
Sad little elephant? I don't see anything sad about him. You did a great job and it isn't easy to make "little" projects.
It's very cute but it definitely looks different than I expected. Doesn't look bad though! Make it a happy elephant.. and with that fabric it should be Edna :P haha
This isn't a sad elephant, he's happy that you cared enough to make him :) You did a great job and you shouldn't put a sad face on him. He deserves a happy face, and as far as a tail goes you can always stitch one on.
Do you have a pattern. I would love to have it if you can tell me where I can purchase one. I love elephants. |
Eddie is sad he is not living with me!
He is so very cute!! Make him a happy face. You did a great job -- that is a tough shape to sew.
How cute is this? Make him happy!!!!!
Add a embroidery floss tail, But he is so cute just the way he is.
How cute! You did an awesome job. Your friend will love him. I vote happy face. :)
I vote happy face too, because he makes me smile.
That is adorable!!! You did great.
I think Eddie is just fine! Stitch some yarn on his rump for a tail and small buttons for eyes (on his front of course LOL!) and let him go to his new home....
He's so cute!! Maybe you could read the story of the Saggy Baggy Elephant to him!!
He is adorable!! Happy Face!!
Awwww! He's adorable!
He is totally cute! You did a fantastic job on him...his little disabilites just make him more loveable! I would love an elllie pin cushion...and when I get my sewing space reorganized one is first on my list of to-do's - would you mind sharing the pattern with me?

I'm in love with Eddie. Give him a happy face and a tail.
He is so cute, you did a wonderful job!!!!!!!
I think with a couple nice little eyes, and an 'Eeyore' tail, he will be one happy elephant. I vote for a smile. I personally, think he is great!
He sure made ME smile.
A flowery pink elephant does NOT need a face! He's content!
I think he needs a happy grin. I am an elephant lover and collector too, and I would be honored to add Eddie to my collection. I think you did a fine job.
How cute, he is perfect I'd say happy in fact!
I think it turned out great! What's not to like about it?

He is adorable and perfect! I agree with the others about adding a yarn or embroidery thread tail. As for a face, he's perfect either way. I also would love to know where to get the pattern.
Can you post the pattern please? I would love to have an elephant pincushion. Thanks, by the way he/she is cute, I like the fabric
I think he is gorgeous!! I for one am glad you posted him!
If your friend, by chance, dislikes him PM me and I will give him a good home in Aus!! |
I think this little elephant looks great!!! You can just tack a tail on the back of him. Happy face!
he's adorable!...you did a great job!
I vote for a happy face!
I love Eddie!!!!
He is cute make him happy. Crochet a chain with a small tassel for a tail, or make a braided tail.
I think he's cute! For a tail...don't despair....take some thread, or crochet thread if you have it, cut it six times longer that you want for a tail...cut many pieces....thread it through a needle and pull thread through, from right to left through about a 1/8" piece of his rear where the tail would come out....the thread will be centered through the fabric so you have equal amounts hanging from the left and right side. Now...separate the threads and braid them. Tie a knot when it's long enough and cut off the extra. Instant tail!
I agree, make him happy! There is nothing sad about him. I think he's very cute!
That is so very Cute!
you can sew the tail on the outside. You know some are not born or created perfect that is what makes all things wonderful. Eddie is special and needs to be loved> you can put some cool eyes on him, maybe a nice scarf (thin one) and called him loved.
I love him |
