I have to share what happened. I put it on FB because I asked my DH if the husband had FB. My DH said "No". Well, the wife saw it....

and this was her reaction:

Luda:"Becky, tell me, please, that this gift is for me. ::)))))
Me: "Yes...Mike (my DH) told me you aren't on FB!
me: Well, he said Tim wasn't on!" :)
It's okay...yes...it's for you!'
Luda: Love it!!!!OH MAY!!!!!! (probably meant oh MY!) thank you so much!!!
Luda: Yes, Tim is not on FB, but I am.
Me: And it is probably the most beautiful quilt I've made to this point in my life!
Luda: I don't know, but when I saw it, it made me cry.
Me: :)
Luda: It's beautiful!
Me: because, it is really that pretty...prettier in person than in the photos.

So, I've already been thanked! It wasn't a total surprise, so I went ahead and posted FB, but I didn't remember that she was a friend on FB since she doesn't post much/any. :p

Kudos to you for making such a gorgeous quilt and how it will be loved! It reminds me of some of the Ukrainian embroidery designs!

It is a beautiful quilt, and a wonderful example that shows how attractive brown can really be.

Jingle 12-17-2013 11:40 AM

WOW, it is absolutely gorgeous. They will love it.

peaceandjoy 12-17-2013 01:26 PM

Holy cow, I love it. It was pretty before, but the quilting put it over the top... And done on a DSM... Wow!! I used to say I had an "allergy" to brown, but now it's one of my favorite colors - along with red!
Thanks for sharing your journey!

You made that SO fast-when you have an extra 10 minutes, I'd like one, too! :) Really beautiful.

Retired Fire Chief 12-18-2013 03:48 AM

It is beautiful, nothing plain brown about it, fabulous.

oldquilter 12-18-2013 04:05 AM

That is just so gorgeous. Thanks for all the pictures of the different steps. Did you happen to take a picture of wrestling it while doing the quilting? That is a challenge! Safe travels and happy holidays.

Well....I have admit I've never seen one for sale in Poland except machines that are are for factory work. I'd have to look around England. (Which isn't out of the question, BTW). Maybe after the last kid leaves home and I can spread out in the whole basement! :D

This is such an incredible quilt! In my dreams I'll never pull off anything so perfect. And all this for people you hardly know... you are incredibly generous. May it come back to you a hundredfold. Merry Christmas!

It turned out amazing, they will love it.

You are a very generous person to give so much of yourself-your time, your effort, your expertise, your caring &love-(not to mention the fabric, the thread, the batting.) The recipients are very fortunate to receive this beautiful quilt. I'll bet they will never know how much it "cost" you. But WE do. God bless you.

JoanneS 12-18-2013 04:00 PM

It turned out great! I'm amazed that you could piece AND quilt it in just a week. Wish I could do that and have a quilt as lovely as yours. I suppose that with the right incentive ~ ~ ~

JJean 12-18-2013 04:18 PM

Your brown quilt is fabulous :)

2manyhobbies 12-19-2013 04:44 AM

It's absolutely beautiful. And I love browns. I am a real 'season' person and that would look so good on my fall theme bed.

BCM 12-19-2013 07:12 AM

How lovely of you to gift this beauty!

llong0233 12-19-2013 07:25 AM

What a beautiful quilt. I guess calling it "The Brown Quilt" is appropriate, but it's so much more than that. It's every variation of shade and derivative of brown and it's wonderful. Like reading a short story, really examining all the prints and colors. What a great gift.

mjhaess 12-19-2013 08:38 AM

That is beautiful....
