The saga of the "brown" quilt. It's done.

Many of you read about and saw my brown and red quilt top that I finished on Saturday. http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...t-t236699.html

I finished it last night. I had hoped to have until Friday to finish it, but I asked the company that I deal with in Poznan to pick up my Janome Horizon 7700 (I want it professionally serviced--haven't had it done in 3 years) --they said Ok, "Tuesday!" Yikes. I learned that when I was half finished with the quilting.

So, I put my nose to the grindstone and finished up. It's 111" square.

Here are the pictures of the "rest of the story."

Sandwiching it. I use both spray glue and safety pins. And I have a huge dining room picnic style table (so I'm not afraid to scratch it up).

Sometimes I need heavy things to help hold it up there, as the weight of the quilt may drag it off. So, I use books--and I keep my Polish/English dictionaries close by.

Quilted on my Janome Horizon 7700. Ready to trim, so back to the dining room table to trim.

I do machine binding now. (I used to do hand binding for these types of quilts til I gained confidence doing machine binding.) I'm not going back to the hand work!

Stepping back a bit from the binding.

It will fill my carryon!

Windy! Of course, as soon as we step outside to take pictures, the breeze starts up!

To review. I made the pattern "Clover"http://www.missrosiesquiltco.com/Schnibbles.html only I used 2.5" squares and made the small squares (chains) out of 1.5" strips. I also made it king sized instead of lap/crib sized. After I bought the pattern, I printed it several times and just cut and pasted the pattern to make it larger as needed. Since it is constructed "on point", I needed a visual to look at as I did it.

It's a gift for friends in Turkey. He is an American, she is Ukrainian. My DH stays with them he goes to teach in Turkey. I've never met "him" but "the wife" has stayed at our house--several years before they were married.
