When my 3 kids were small we started a tradition where we placed elves around the house the 1st of December and told the kids "Be Good, Santa's Elves are Watching". Now that my oldest son has 2 children of his own, he asked me to design a quilt depicting our family tradition. It was a lot of fun to design.
I just looked around the house for hiding places to put the elves and then turned them into quilt blocks. I used a curved piecing border and added red buttons for the holly berries and red bells on the ends of the elves hats. I have the 3 quilts done for the kids and am now working on mine. This way each family will be able to remember and carry on our fun tradition. Santa's Elves are Watching |

Makes you feel good when the kids want to pass on the family traditions from when they were little. Beautiful work with lovely memories.

We always had Elfie in the tree to watch the kids one year he left a note with a small box of candy for them. To this day an elf goes in my tree. Cute tradition and adorable quilt.

We have an Elf at my folks house that each of us has claimed for our own when my parents are gone. It's this little bitty thing on a swing that has a small package setting next to him. A little mouse peeks out the corner of the box. As long as I can remember that thing has hung in the corner of the kitchen archway every year at the holiday season. The gold on the package no longer shines, the strings of the swing are frayed, if you aren't careful the mouse head falls out of the package. But you know, that thing MUST hang in that archway for it to be Christmas |
Totally Adorable
