As I've mentioned many times, I love scrappy quilts. I was inspired by Billie Lauder's Ultimate scrappy 4 patch technique to make lots and lots of scrappy 4 patches. But I needed something to make them POP and be noticed. Using Gwen Marston's technique of creating wonky stars, I sprinkled them on my 4 patches.
I still have many 4 patches left for another quilt, any suggestions? my scrappy 4 patch with wonky stars |

Works very well. Love the brightness the stars give it. They steal the show, so to speak!

Hey Sue,
I love how that turned out! Thanks for sharing (and sending me the PM so I would see it.) I need to find the pattern for those stars. Did you get it on-line? Hope to see you again this fall... Linda |
Linda, if you go to Bonnie Hunter's quiltville.com website, she shows how to make those wonky stars. I happened to have 3 of Gwen Marston's liberated quilting books from the library to see her method.
they are fun AND easy! Thought I'd better post the link cuz I even had a hard time finding it. I forgot that Bonnie calls them "maverick stars" .. http://quiltville.com/maverickstars.shtml |
I love the addition of the wonky stars. Striking.

This is great. I'm always looking for ideas for a 'guy' quilt. So many quilts look feminine to me. But this quilt would be great for a guy of any age, and a girl would love it also.
|
Neat!
|
That is such a fun quilt!
|
Your scrappy quilts are just wonderful.
|
Yes this would be great for a guy, maybe keep out the pinks.
Or it could be 'patriotic' in red, blue , white and some purples, maybe and for a girly girl, use more pinks and pastels. I'm already making some pastel 4 patches to make this for my granddaughter but might do raw edge applique of some large butterflies or dragonflies. It won't get started for awhile, I have others in my 'queue'. |
Wow, great job, love it
|
Love the starts - it makes the quilt.
