yes that is great also, just so they know

dojo36 02-08-2010 06:17 PM

makes me think well, they shouldn't have joined in the first place if they didn't intend to do it right. or if they're tired of it and want out, then just say so to kwhite. i'm putting it bluntly but that's just the way i am.

STAR 02-08-2010 06:58 PM

well lets ask the boss!

K- are you having trouble reaching any of these MIA angels?

or any angelees?

janedennis 02-08-2010 07:04 PM

Just wanted to put my two cents in. I am one of those that hasnt sent it yet, life got in the way big time and will catch up. No one knows what it is like until you walk a mile in their shoes. I also was in a quilt group and had a secret sister that never sent me a thing, later find out that she was on her death bed boy did I feel bad. Later had another one and she was fantastic so things happen good and bad and if you feel bad send something to one of those that didnt get anything, that is what happened to me. It made me really think about things. Secret sister it is on its way Will explain at the end

STAR 02-08-2010 07:07 PM

Thanx janedennis!! this is good to know!! as long as K is in the loop I think it will all work out! I hope everything is going better for you or will real soon!

janedennis 02-08-2010 07:09 PM

Yes things are improving more each day and hope to be back to normal soon. Sure hope the rest of the year is a little better. It is not easy to be disabled. Thanks for caring

sewnsewer2 02-08-2010 09:06 PM

I'm so thankful my angelee posts everytime she gets a gift from me, because my secret santa never said a word and I sent her a really nice package; it kinda hurt.

tlrnhi 02-08-2010 09:24 PM

Thank you my angel!
I love the Valentine Card you sent!
THANK YOU!!!!

gramqlts 02-08-2010 09:50 PM

I agree....I sent two packages out so far and only one that was posted was the second one I sent. Makes me wander if she got the first one or not. I have Valentine package ready to go but snowed in so angel may get it late....sorry.

I received one at Christmas from my angel but did not get one last month on my birthday. But I noticed someone else with January birthday got birthday and valentines combined so not worrying about it.

I just enjoy doing this and seeing everyone's neat gifts or reading about them for those like me who are too dumb to post pics. I finally got a digital camera but too dumb to know how to post pics (hook it up to computer). My daughter gave me a digital key chain that I can go in and downloads pics on and too dumb to figure out how to load it. I tried to get my other daughter to do it for me and she said no as it took too long for her to do hers that she got. (the selfish brat) (lol). After all I raised her and fed her and schooled her....least she could do is help her old iliterate (sorry, can't spell either) mom out. Smile.

I think we have some fabulous angels on here tho and promise to post in writing everything I get til I can get my other daughter over here to teach me how to post pics.

Sewnsewer2.....I didn't think mine got hers either but found her post on an entirely different section than all the rest. Maybe this happened.

Thanks, but I don't think so. I looked. She is very seldom on anymore either. I think only has 50 posts or so. Oh well, life goes on.
At least my angelee appreciates it. :D

I agree 100%. I have a lot of things not ok in my life right now, but I have obligations and will go on or drop out.....I like plain talk, sorry if you are sick, but we are not mind readers. It hurts when you are left out and it has nothing to do with gifts. A post card is easy

sandpat 02-09-2010 05:48 AM

I struggle with the whole concept of joining something then not following through for whatever reason.

I truly do understand and sympathize with folks who have things happen to them through no fault of their own and afterall...this is only a hobby...lets face it, and truly not as important as health issues, family and a whole host of other things. Now with that being said....I also firmly believe that if you can't/won't follow through that you have a moral obligation to "officially" drop out and make sure that the "organizers" know so that they can make other arrangements.

Now..so you don't misunderstand...my angel did send me a package in and I loved and appreciated it, so I'm not saying or implying anything bad about my angel...I have a sweetie! :D

lfw045 02-09-2010 05:50 AM

Nothing quite as satisfying as emptying out your change box and spending it on your Angelee!!!!!

After all, it is more blessed to give than it is to receive and I will appreciate my SQA whether she sends me anything else or not!

Linda what retreat are you going to? I love to retreat.

Knot Sew 02-09-2010 06:43 AM

I am tired of trying to make my posts understood. I have sent my anglee a card and she has to post or I am stopping mailing.

I am happy with my angel. I do not NEED gifts. A card now and then would surfise.
I am happy my fellow quilters are content with everything and commiserate with those who are not
This is my last post on this subject. If anyone wants the last word go for it..

GrammaKitten: I am going to a retreat through the Pieces and Patches Guild. It is held at Hankard's Inn, located in Stockbridge (north of Jackson, south of Leslie). They put on two dates for the retreat as there are so many that want to participate. It is my first year, and I am so excited to "get away from it all" and just be able to sew. Check in is on Friday at noon. Check out is Sunday at 2:00 pm It is only 15 minutes from my house, so I won't be spending a lot of travel time.

STAR 02-09-2010 07:16 AM

wow, that sounds like fun!! and so close to home! you can't beat that

Elisabrat 02-09-2010 07:33 AM

There is a special gift in giving. Getting feedback is lovely however that is not the purpose of giving. Its like a gift you give yourself. Not all of us can give as much as others. I know the people here respect and understand that. I expect nothing therefore when a suprise shows up its a WONDERFUL experience. I think life gifts us many things in many ways. So don't be sad if you receive nothing or not often. Or no pat on the back. Giving isnt about getting a pat on the back. Take a sack of food to the shelter. No one will pat your back. However stand back on hand out day watch those waiting for a LONG time in line (I have been there so I know) that bag of food is a real gift. Something that truly matters. A gift here is a bonus, a card a bonus. Anything at all just the fact we can come here and get hellos, how are you doing? vent, laugh together. We are all so incredibly fortunate. I send what I can when I can. Its not always as cool as some others but I hope my own angel knows I think of her often. I think that counts for something.

jamh 02-09-2010 07:36 AM

OMG you hit it right on the head!!

Grama Lehr 02-09-2010 07:39 AM

Wow! Such lovely gifts!! I sure hope that my angel gets her's soon!!

wvdek 02-09-2010 07:39 AM

In response to chewboo about the Secret Santa: my SS never responded to me personally or to moderator. Because I sent more $$$ than I normally would because I was so excited to be able to and wanted my SS to have some nice things, I was concerned she never received.
I PM'ed moderator and three times she PM'ed SS for me. Finally, SS said she received the package. Nothing else.
So, I decided I would not be as generous with board members who are not regulars. She was new to me and had only posted a few times (less than 15). Selfish I know, but that way I do not feel taken or set myself up for failure because of poor manners on their part. Also, I read their profile more closely now and look for hints in their postings of their agenda.
Currently my SQA is a very busy parent, works full-time and goes to school. I don't expect anything from them when I send something that way I am not disappointed.
This was not meant to be a contest of who could receive the most or best, but to let our SQA know we are thinking about them, making a new friend, and as able, to send a note, or card, or a gift.
I cherish the little calendar my SQA sent. I have it on a kitchen wall space about 8" wide before leaving the room so I see it swvwerak times a day and say a prayer for them and I smile knkowing they are thinking of me.
Hope this helps some of you struggling with this.

I received a beautiful package from my Angel. She knows me so well. Thank you so much. I just love the panel. It is not going anywhere. I will make that one for ME!!!!!

PS the marshmello heart was great for breakfast!!!

STAR 02-09-2010 07:53 AM

lovely panel!

Nancy in Louisiana 02-09-2010 07:55 AM

Another way of looking at it -- If we don't get an acknowlegment that a gift was received, then we worry about it getting lost, wrong address, etc. -- after spending time, money, and effort picking out the right gift, I want to know whether it found its destination before I send anything else. And if we don't hear from you, then we start to worry about you--are you OK? is there something we could do to help you? Maybe you're in a situation where a certain type of card or gift would be more appropriate. Just a quick note to "K" would prevent a lot of anguish and misunderstanding. Afterall, we're trying to be angels, here, and angels want to help out.

Nancy in Louisiana 02-09-2010 07:56 AM

By the way, my angelee is good about responding -- I didn't mean to infer that she wasn't.

I'm sure any gift you send is appreciated by your angelee! This is not a contest about who gets the most....or the best..or the whatever. You said it all!!!

My angelee sometimes posts, sometimes doesn't but we all have life circumstances that can get in the way of that!

Linda

that sounds like a great time. I retreat 4-6 times a year. Even if it is with my daughter at her cottage for the weekend.

Barbm 02-09-2010 09:14 AM

Well, I'll tell you what- I am not good about having someone's identity a secret. And my SQA is too good at that. I am trying to figure her out and it's not working.

Personally, just a card is good for me. I love opening mail, especially cards. She sent me a card to watch for a handsome UPS dude with a package. Haven't received it yet, know my UPS dude so he is safe to go home to his little kids- he's cute but I'm not a cradle robber.

I set a goal for myself to figure out my SQA by then end of the year. I'm failing miserably that 1 month has gone by and I haven't figured it out. Now- on the other hand- I worry I post too much and my Angelee will figure me out. Hopefully she won't but I have a big mouth and always share TMI.

This is fun- plain and simple! And my Angelee has a box on its way. So that's a not so subtle hint to the other 100 or so members here that they might get something in their mail. :)

jnebug 02-09-2010 09:22 AM

Well I am going to say a Big Thankyou to my Secret Angel and as soon as my daughter comes this week I will post pics as I don't have a camera right now.I can;t remember if I said anything on here so I'm going to say it again.I received for my birthday(it was delivered right to my door and I have no idea who it was)5 snowman tree ornaments,a desk calender which I really love and all the different animals,a pkg of charms, these are my first and a table runner pattern, two lovely candles and the most beautiful angel wall hanging.I love all my gifts,Thankyou to my angel and so sorry if I never posted before as I thought I had,you are one of a kind!!

laparshall 02-09-2010 09:28 AM

GramaKitten: I would love to go on more retreats. I usually travel with DH to State Union meetings 2-3 times a year. I take my machine and supplies, and have my own personal retreat. It is nice because he usually buys me dinner unless it is provided. And I can get a lot of sewing or cutting done while he is in meetings.

STAR 02-09-2010 09:30 AM

That sounds like fun! a nice car trip, sewing, dinner, and a hotel stay! mini vacation!
