I cleaned and rearranged my sewing studio. Come visit while it's clean. After I post these picture I'm going to sew.

This is where 2 students sit. Scissor collection above. I have over 200 pairs.

Last picture, hope you weren't bored. I have room for 4 students. I didn't show everything, just what I think are the highlights.
Thank you for visiting.

I like the border of patterns, too...and the fish wallhanging...and your scissors collection...and well, the entire room! What exactly do you teach? Basic sewing? Quilting? Something else? You have a creative room in which to create beautiful projects.

CanadianLoon 01-03-2010 02:16 AM

Just looking at your room puts me in a creative mood.

Do you have a scissor preference for quilting? Love your collection.

I do have Advance, also Simplicity, McCalls, Butterrick, Vogue and some by Vogue called Your Special Design. I also have some that were made before patterns were printed. Those I remember sewing with. I have more than that, but ran out of wall. I have some for bras, panties, slips, girdles in addition to the regular. Oh I have some that were ordered from the newspapers. Remember them?

I teach both quilting and garment construction. My students range from children to mature adults. I also rent my HandiQuilter by the hour. I have the most amazing 93 yo that uses my HQ. She still lives alone, drives and is trying to hurry her quilting bc 'she won't live forever'. Her words not mine.

MistyMarie 01-03-2010 09:57 AM

Amazing. I am drooling. I have a disaster for a sewing room right now. I feel blessed to at least have a small area. Someday... when my kids are grown...

I would have to say my favorite is Gingher. I have about 25 pairs of them. I used to collect the designers until they got so expensive. I still buy a pair once in a while. I recently bought the Gingher rotary, it was on clearence. I can't say it's any better than the rest. Mostly I use the rotary for quilting. Learning to sew I used scissors so I still do for garments.

AtHomeSewing 01-03-2010 10:26 AM

Wow, great setup! Love the scissors collection and the Featherweights are gorgeous!

Gainsville is about 2 hours north of Fayetteville. We live about 30 minutes south of the airport.

Beachbaby12 01-03-2010 04:57 PM

Your sewing studio is awesome and a dream. Thanks for sharing.

cande 01-03-2010 06:26 PM

That's a nice room!

Jingle 01-03-2010 07:15 PM

Nice room, I use to sew mainly for my two girls and made pjs for my son also - years ago and made doll clothes and GI Joe and Ken clothes several years from Mrs. Claus. Now I only make quilts - kids are in their 40s.

Jim's Gem 01-03-2010 09:36 PM

Looks like a great room to work in!!

earthwalker 01-03-2010 11:22 PM

I have to say, "This is a sewing room to die for". How fortunate you are to be able to teach students & sew for yourself in such a wonderful room!! :D I can tell by your pictures that you love it too!! Thank you so much for sharing with all of us!!
:D :D :D :D

Yarn or Fabric 01-04-2010 04:51 AM

golly! Why did I look??!! I work out of a glorified broom closet! If I am ever brave enough I'll post pics of my set up. You guys would just shudder! It is amazing that I do get anything done at all. I dream of the day of getting a nice big craft room! I'm thinking that maybe after the kids are off to school and not coming back I might be able to knock out a wall - but I doubt that my husband would go for that - he'd argue that they might want to come back to visit and we'd need the bedroom.... their rooms will become little shrines to their childhood I'm sure!!

Chrys 01-04-2010 05:19 AM

LOVE it!

My ironing table is a kitchen cabinet we got free from Craigslist. DH put a piece of plywood on top and I covered it.
