Sheets From the Past

2 Attachment(s)
This is what I've named both of these quilts. Can't resist a sheet or a pillow case at a yard sale for 25 cents and after getting these 2 finished I will be making more. They are so soft and cuddly. Both of these will be gifts but have one planned for myself (after the holidays).

Get on here every morning to see what everyone is making. It's like watching a slide show!!!

Grandma Peg 11-21-2011 08:35 AM

Would never have guessed those were sheets. Very nice.

Lynnejean 11-21-2011 08:38 AM

I think your vintage sheet quilts are great!! I love vintage sheets too! I noticed you have some really pretty ones in that top quilt. LOVE that purple!!! I can't seem to find any purple and I love purple!!!

Jingle 11-21-2011 08:38 AM

Both are beautiful, great job.

QuiltnNan 11-21-2011 08:52 AM

beautiful quilts

crafty pat 11-21-2011 09:15 AM

Those are so beautiful. You were so lucky to fins them. As Grandma Peg said, it is hard to believe they are sheets.

Shirls4sons 11-21-2011 09:24 AM

Those are so pretty! I also buy sheets and, skirts and shirts at various places to cut up and use for 'fabric stach'. I am saving several of my sheets for backing. My granddaughter is making a 'flower garden' quilt (her first, she is 12) and am going to give her my rose-flowered sheet for the backing.

lyndaloo 11-21-2011 10:38 AM

I love those quilts! They look so comfy and I would never have guessed they were make from sheets!

annthreecats 11-21-2011 11:02 AM

I never thought about buying sheets to add to my fabric stash. Clever idea. Beautiful quilts. Thanks for sharing.

Keep Them In Stitches 11-21-2011 11:04 AM

WOW! Terrific idea with the sheets and pillow cases. Very pretty quilts.

greaterexp 11-21-2011 11:13 AM

Terrific use of those fabrics!

ChrisB 11-21-2011 11:17 AM

I like them. It is a shame to waste fabric when it can be used.

4EVERquilt 11-21-2011 11:43 AM

very nice, love what you did with them.

amma 11-21-2011 01:56 PM

Beautiful quilts! Love how you repurpose sheets and pillow cases :) :) :)

jbj137 11-21-2011 02:09 PM

Sheets are good, but
I have found new pillowcases at Salvation Army for 49 cents.
That is almost a yard of material for 49 cents.

Wish I could find sheets that weren't so high priced. They want 6 dollars at some of our thrift stores. yours are really pretty.

Jackie Spencer 11-21-2011 04:40 PM

Several years ago I made my daughter a quilt from pretty sheets and made curtains from the same sheets to match. She just loved it, and her room looked so pretty.

hperttula123 11-21-2011 04:44 PM

They are lovely. I bet they are going to be loved greatly!!!! Such a good way to use up old sheets. :)

Vivian Ketron 11-21-2011 05:16 PM

Both are very pretty. I would have never guessed they were once sheets either.

jhoward 11-21-2011 05:36 PM

Mariposa 11-21-2011 05:39 PM

Neat quilts! Never would have thought they were sheets!!

RuthEm 11-21-2011 05:43 PM

That's a great idea.....using sheets; vintage ones are very soft. Esp like the 2nd pattern!!

serenitybygrace 11-21-2011 05:57 PM

I guess I haven't seen sheets in such pretty prints. Your quilts are lovely.

jeanharville 11-21-2011 05:57 PM

You know as soon as the thrift stores find out we're using the sheets for fabric, they'll go up on the price. It's getting harder and harder to catch a bargin. BTW, I love your quilts and your creativity using the sheets.

sew1 11-21-2011 06:05 PM

Definitely quite the recycler. What a wonderful idea. Now look what you've done, got me looking for other things. Both these quilts are very pretty.

weasier22 11-21-2011 06:34 PM

Wow! Really like these quilts! Nice gifts! You'll have to post a picture of the one you're going to do for yourself!
Thanks for sharing.

Kathy T. 11-21-2011 06:47 PM

Very excellent recycling ... so pretty.

Chicca 11-22-2011 06:00 AM

Lovely quilts! Repurposing fabrics can be so much fun. Thanks for sharing.

willferg 11-22-2011 07:13 AM

To original poster, I love your tag line -- I had to read it twice, and then I loved it!

debcavan 11-22-2011 07:27 AM

What a cool idea.

crewsemj 11-22-2011 07:40 AM

Thank You All for your comments. I've found out that sheets are very expensive at the thrift stores so all of mine I've picked up at yard sales. Won't spend more than 50 cents (well, maybe more if I REALLY like it). Have tried lately to just get pillow cases except for the plane colored sheets. There is a LOT of material in a sheet and my collection of them is taking over. A lot of the pillow cases you can get for a dime.

This thing with sheets started a couple of years ago on another message board where several of us signed up and exchanged FQ's of sheets. A strange way for a stash to start but was a lot of fun!!

willferg---as for the tag line , that is ME! So many times I've wished I could be quicker to think of what I should say!!

Thanks Again to All!!!!

mtspools 11-22-2011 08:03 AM
