Your quilts are great. I can't wait to see your current hand pieced one completed. Love the fabrics for the dresden plate.

Thank you all so much for your encouraging words :) It's fun to be in a community like this.

Here is some of the progress I've made on the Dresden plate/fan quilt that I took a class on. During class, I was only able to cut the blades and sew together one 5-blade fan (See picture 1). Throughout this week, I've sewn together the rest of the 5-blade fans. (see picture 2!) And look what happens when I lay them out all squiggly like! (see picture 3!) Isn't it fun?! The white fabric isn't the background - it's just my ironing board extender thingy that my mom made me (thanks mom!). But the squiggles are going to be surrounding the center - which will be a Dresden plate - pictures coming in the next post...

When I decided to take pictures of the Dresden plate, I'm afraid I'd lost all sunlight, so the pictures aren't quite so nice, but you can still tell what's going on.

Here's the dresden plate, with the center (not attached yet), all laid on top of the background fabric! fun fun!

I'm going to end up appliqueing the fans/plate to the background blocks, but I've never done that before.

Does anyone have any tips on applique? It quite overwhelming to me right now...and I don't really know where to start. Thanks everyone! <3

You are doing great. It's going to look beautiful. How did you do the center circle?
