Imagine how lovely it would look if you put a small bookcase in front of the windows and stacked your fabric on the shelves. You could still see the ends and add color near your machine. Remember, you don't want to put your fabric where they will be in direct sunlight. This will cause fading. I use two large bookcases for my fabric. It's sorted by color (red pile, blue pile, etc).

i say dump the shakers and display the fabric. It is very lovely.

I also collect s&p shakers. My fabric is also in tubs. I have it sorted by color and type. Then when I decide the colors I want I just drag them all out and spread it on the kitchen table.

ditto :-)

Either pack up the shakers, or create low shelves for your studio. Sounds like the containers are not working for you and make fabric selection frustrating. Good luck with making it work for you.

I say organize your tubs so that you know what you have in each one ... since they are clear, it will be easy ... catagorize and index ... you will still be able to enjoy your S&P collection ... I love my fabric but don't think I need to eat dinner and look at it too!

Took all my fabric out of the tubs, bought a metal bakers rack from Target. Am now up to 3 racks and can access all my books and find whatever piece of fabric for project of the moment that's needed. Besides it's just nice to sit and look at sometimes.

Do it.

I store my fabric in tubs stacked like shelves so my fabric is always in plain view.

If you can use it I think I would. I have some in tubs and boxes
and it is not easy to see if all.
