Thank you. I don't have any expectations of winning anything but do want the experience of entering and sharing.
I have the binding machine sewn on and started on the hand sewing. Took a break to make some coffee and see what's on TV tonight. I can't bring the quilt to the family room because I don't want the cat near it so, going to put fresh bedding on my bed, sit on the bed and do the sewing. Perfect solution and the quilt will have flat support on the bed. The cat just can't stand that she can't get into the bedroom. I was coming out of it today with the quilt in my arms and going to the sewing room. She was outside the door and I was trying to block her, hold the quilt, and close the door. She did an end run around me just as I was shutting the door and it hit her right in the head. She turned around and ran down the stairs. Sorry kitty but, you can't go in right now. :) |

Did you have this professionally quilted? I would be asking my quilter about this...since I quilt, I can say this :) Most quilters press before the quilting, so this would have been pressed to the border. Certainly we see it before the quilting.
I think it might prevent it from winning a ribbon...sorry to say. But really that would depend upon the show - how large it is. It is a beautiful quilt - and you did an amazing job. It may be one you end up just enjoying...but on the other hand, if you do enter it once, you'll know based upon the comments. I would have to think twice about the quilter... Just my thoughts.... Don't be too hard on your quilter. She did a beautiful job with your quilt top. Stuff happens, and both of you missed the show-through. |
Shelly, I don't blame the LA at all. She did a absolutely wonderful job and turned my quilt into a spectacular piece.
It is my quilt top and my responsibility to make sure everything is right. |
I agree with most comments. Enter it!!! I also agree with the comment about the quilter... I would think he/she would have asked you about the extensions. It is a gorgeous quilt and worth showing. GO FOR IT!!!!

i love the quilting...where did you get it quilted and how much did it cost..my quilter only does simple quilting and costs $100

I have several quilters. one charges between 1 1/2 cents per sq. inch and the other charges .0175 cents per sq inch.
the 2 cents is somewhat high. |
