Hi everyone; I just finished quilting this - the blocks are Jacob's Ladder and Snail Trails, hence the name. I saw this block combination somewhere on the internet ages ago and wanted to try it. The purple 30s fabric with little white motifs and the dark purple fabric was sent ot me a while ago by butterflywing and I wanted to do something special with it - it went perfectly (I think!) with the calico which I got in Holland. It's machine quilted - zig zag over the seams and swirls (like a snail's shell) on the border and in the open spaces of the calico snails.

It's a throw for our little purple sofa which has suffered at the hand (or rather claws!) of the cat. The kitty in the picture is Pépite, our newest quilt inspector. :D

She thinks everything is hers - she's a tyrant! BUT she does sleep on the purple sofa so in a way, it IS hers! :D

Is your sofa a) eggplant (aubergine! ) coloured or actually b) MADE of an eggplant? (aubergine?) You know I'm kidding, I hope! :-D

Thanks Esq and everyone for the kind words. :-D

Loretta I think Drunkards Path has a curved seam - Snail Trail is just squares and HSTs - all straight seams. I want to do a Drunkard's Path one day though! :-D

In the UK I worked in an antique's shop and we had the odd love seat for sale - to me, it's a small couch, sometimes upholstered but can also be wooden, made for two ppl , hence the name. I guess my little purple sofa fits the description, I just never thought of it before. :-D
