This Was My Plan To Finaly Use the Fabric in My 'Scrap Basket'. IT was Very Very FULL! I thought if I make Say 24 blocks that would make a Good size 'Dent' Silly ME!
As you Can tell from the Picture Not even Close to a Dent. As a matter fact I think ITS Growing Like the 'Blob' in that old Movie!LOL I think I could Sew for a Year and IT will Still Be there! Its a Magic Fabric Basket. HELP! I'm posting 2 Pic's one of My hall with the 'BLOB' and the Blocks so far. :)

Holy Moley is your basket full. I thought that mine was bad but you have me beat. I just have small pieces. Your quilt is going to be great, can't wait to see it finished. Thanks for sharing. BrendaK

I love your scrap basket and your blocks. It looks like fun to just dive in there and grab some scraps. I make string blocks with my scraps and find it very addictive. There is a soothing quality to just grabbing and sewing.

NikkiLu 08-26-2012 07:15 PM

Oh MY!!! Looks like you have a lot of work to do.

earthwalker 08-26-2012 07:15 PM

Oh there are so many beautiful potential quilts in that collection....what fun:). Love the blocks you have done....keep us posted, you know how we love pics. Happy scrapping!

Grandma Bonnie 08-26-2012 07:23 PM

You are going to have a great quilt when it is finished! It looks like you have enough scraps to make several!

terri bb 08-26-2012 07:26 PM

miss lori what have you done!!??? where are you in there with all those scraps??? the blocks look great! keep making them! i love your colors and they will be fantastic all put together! make a scrappy double irish chain????

Pickles 08-26-2012 07:32 PM

O my, you do have a ton of scraps, wish I had even a portion of that kind of scraps I'd be in hog heaven.
Nice Blocks your quilt well be so so pretty!!!

4EVERquilt 08-26-2012 07:37 PM

I know what you mean about the "blob" I have one growing too! I really like your blocks, that is going to be an awesome quilt.

kay carlson 08-26-2012 07:38 PM

Great start on the first of many (smiley face) scrap quilts. I like the different shapes you used on the colorful blocks. I have tamed my scraps by cutting blocks and strips. Rather ho-hum as contrasted with your blocks showing such movement. Quilt On!

leatheflea 08-26-2012 08:16 PM

LOL...Every time I use some my scraps I end up with more. I had one large tote and said that was all I was alloying myself...then there was two....and now I've a box and a basket I've added to the pile. So you're right It multiplies!

mamajack3 08-26-2012 08:24 PM

I love scrappy quilts. Can't wait to see how they turn out. Notice I said" They" LOL

GailG 08-26-2012 08:29 PM

So far so good! Keep on keeping on! Then when you're done, I'll send you my baskets:D

Bluelady 08-26-2012 09:04 PM

Looks good so far! I have to send my scraps to a new home or I too would be overrun with scraps! Your quilt will look great!

Teddybear Lady 08-26-2012 09:10 PM

You do know that those scraps multiply when left alone in a sewing room don't you. LOL I have lots and lots and love them all! I love making scrappy squares. I make a lot of potholders out of mine. I have a quilt top done but haven't started the quilting process yet.

debcavan 08-26-2012 09:10 PM

You have barely touched them, keep going. I love the ones you have done so far.

hensandhollyhocks 08-26-2012 09:16 PM

What a great scrap basket. My Mom loves to come to my house and "play" in my scrap basket.

janedee 08-26-2012 10:12 PM

I'm so glad I'm not the only one whose scrap basket looks such a jumble!!! I start to sort it out and then loose the will so they all end up getting tossed back in - but having seen yours I know I can do it and try to make some blocks that look as good as yours so keep us posted with your quilt progress

justflyingin 08-26-2012 10:16 PM

My guess is that you have enough scraps for 5-6 scrappy quilts if all that I saw were the scraps you can use. So, never fear, it feels like they multiply when you aren't looking!

busy fingers 08-26-2012 11:30 PM

You have to start somewhere and it looks like I can see some great blocks coming out of that scrap basket. Well done

gsbuffalo 08-27-2012 02:18 AM

oh yea..looks like my sewing area

carolaug 08-27-2012 02:30 AM

Good reminder..I just bought some more fabric for a quilt, but I think I will first make up a bunch of scrappy string blocks first. To to use up some of my scraps. I have been making hook rugs, which has really helped alot. May try making another one of those to.

Blinkokr 08-27-2012 03:51 AM

Just beautiful, great job and thank you for sharing. My scraps are the same. LOL
Have a Blessed day
Ellen

catladyquilts 08-27-2012 04:15 AM

I see a lot of scrap quilts coming out of that basket. Your blocks are very colorful, going to be a great quilt

wolph33 08-27-2012 04:43 AM

oh how I love playing with scraps.I have had some of the same fabrics as you.

Diane007 08-27-2012 05:18 AM

Have fun.
I think you will be doing more then one scrappy quilt

Gayle 08-27-2012 05:36 AM

Thanks for sharing! You've made me feel better about my sewing room. It looks like a work in process too and I actually am working on a quilt! Love your sewing machine!!

kateyb 08-27-2012 05:52 AM

Your scrap quilt is going to be fun and beautiful.
I know what you mean about them growing like the "Blob". I have 12 drawers that are 12" x 12" x 7" of larger scraps sorted by color, 2 shopping bags of odd strips (one light, one dark), 2 blanket bags of smaller pieces ( one light, one dark). I have made 3 queen size tops and have 3 more in the works of scrap quilt and have barely made a dent. Oh, I forgot the box of hst's that I use for beginners and enders.

Lorraine Simon 08-27-2012 07:01 AM

I know from where you speak.
I have that problem too. Yet I buy more fabric.
I also have the blob in my cupboard..It seems to me that the blob keeps attacking the coffee mugs. I haven't bought a mug in more years then I can remember and yet they keep coming..lol

ruck9085 08-27-2012 07:30 AM

Im with you, Honey! I have three huge totes of scraps!! my husband said if I buy anyomre materail before I empty at least one of them he's gonna have a stroke! Poor dear, I alerted his doctor! LOL!

Looks like a great start, post a picture when you have it put together.

landers1 08-27-2012 07:48 AM

Very nice blocks , Yes scraps do seem to grow.

pollyjvan9 08-27-2012 07:59 AM

I know what you mean about the scraps multiplying! I started quilting in 2005 or 06 and now have 14 plastic tubs (not the big ones, but middle size) of scraps separated by color. Thankfully, I love making scrappy quilts. Will by watching for your finished product. Going to look great.

Tweety2911 08-27-2012 08:37 AM

You need to be an athlete to get over your sewing bench to get to your machine:)
I love your scrappy blocks and can't wait to see what you do with them. Happy Scraping!!

Sandra in Minnesota 08-27-2012 02:26 PM

I have been working on a box of scraps all summer, and it still doesn't shrink. I do believe that it multiplies at night.

jeanneb52 08-28-2012 02:44 AM

Your blocks are such fun! I have bins of scraps and no matter how hard I try they just won't go away. Maybe because I won't let them. I make scrappy quilts but the pile keeps growning. I think I have scrap fairies . Hooray for scraps!

QUILTNMO 08-28-2012 03:22 AM

looks like you having fun!!!

quiltingcurious 08-28-2012 04:31 AM

What bright fabrics in your scrappy, will be very cheery and pretty.
