Spinning Wheels

Here is a picture of my first paper piecing project called "Spinning Wheels". I sure got tired of picking out all of those tiny little corner pieces of paper, but it was a fun project to learn how to paper piece.

Very pretty quilt

sinceresissy 07-29-2016 04:25 AM

That is quite lovely. It is amazing what a person can do with paper piecing. Those points are really sharp and nice looking.

I have never done paper piecing, but if I ever do THIS is the pattern I want to try. Wow the movement in that quilt is amazing. Loved it!

Love the colors. I can't believe its your first piecing project. Fantastic.

SewingSew 07-29-2016 07:28 AM

This is a very cool quilt. You did a fantastic job! Where can I get this pattern? Next week I wii begin working on a paper piecing project. This will be my first one too. It doesn't look difficult to do, but I think it must be a chore to get the paper out of corners. Do you have any tips after making this quilt? One of the tips I've heard is to use a serated tracing wheel to light score the pattern before you begin.

red-warrior 07-29-2016 07:37 AM

Love your quilt! You are a fast learner to be able to make this first try! Congrats

KARENBOUTQUILTIN 07-29-2016 09:12 AM

Such a lovely quilt. I still haven't come up with the nerve to pp yet.

pahega 07-29-2016 09:35 AM

Thanks for all of the compliments. For those of you who were asking, the real name for the quilt is Spinwheels I guess. You can get the pattern from a shop called Quilting on the Square in Holton, Kansas. I think fall colors would look really pretty in it, too.

Here is their web site:

and, here is the link to order the pattern:

great quilt! inspiring me to dig out the abandoned PP Christmas runner again! (maybe--LOL!)

Barb in Louisiana 07-29-2016 08:48 PM

Great job. It is hard getting all those smaller pieces out. I have a ripper that has a ripper on one end and tweezers on the other. I use both when I am removing paper. I haven't ripped a hole in any fabric yet.

QM 07-29-2016 11:42 PM

I love this quilt!

jmoore 07-30-2016 02:26 AM

Wow, it's beautiful. Kudos to you for challenging yourself with a new technique...you did a great job.
