My granddaughter has always been an artistic, adventurous child. I hope she likes the mix of fabrics in my version (I'm not sure about one of them myself). I do know that she likes purple.

Quilted E2E with Glide on my Tiara.

I really like both of the quilts. Your colors are some of my faves. From what I see, that was a lot of partial seams. I prefer those to Y seams any day. I know your granddaughter will love it.

nativetexan 09-26-2019 10:22 AM

if she likes purple, she will love this quilt!! I do!! great quilt!

JenniePenny 09-26-2019 10:28 AM

You did a great job. The purple fabrics are pretty! I'm sure she will love it.
I made that pattern about 7 years ago with geometric and plaid fabrics.

bearisgray 09-26-2019 10:48 AM

I like both of them - I am fond of purple with almost any color!

It can be done with no partial seams - but a design wall would be absolutely essential.

cashs_mom 09-26-2019 12:23 PM

I printed out the pic of the first quilt and played with it a bit. I came up with the same construction as bear. And the conclusion that it would take a lot of planning to get it right

IrishgalfromNJ 09-26-2019 12:32 PM

I love pinwheels and the colors you used are wonderful. Sweet quilt.

Maybe this drawing might be a little bit more helpful.

Or one can set them crosswise. Same set-up.

Bear, that's exactly the way I did it. This was my working diagram.

Not my favorite way to construct pinwheels!

What a beautiful quilt! Perfect for a teen. She's sure to love it.

bearisgray 09-26-2019 05:02 PM

When I was first trying to figure it out, I had a lot of "dead ends".

This quilt is very pretty and the colors do all play nicely together. Your Granddaughter will surely love it so very much.

Jingle 09-26-2019 06:42 PM

Very pretty quilts and backing is beautiful. I like most all colors.

wesing 09-26-2019 06:42 PM

Your pattern and colors are awesome. If your granddaughter doesn't like it you can send it my way. My daughter, wife and I all love purple/green combo. I also love your backing fabric. That looks like a Stonehenge fabric.

UtahQuiltNut 09-26-2019 06:55 PM

really really lovely!!

toogie 09-27-2019 06:14 AM

Oh so pretty! IMHO you can never go wrong with pinwheels. I like this pattern too. I haven't seen it before. Did you make it up? I'd love to have it or know what size you cut the HST ,bricks etc

Watson 09-27-2019 06:33 AM

It's fantastic.
When you say you did it E to E on your Tiara, did you have a quilting pattern drawn on and followed it or just did it freehand?

Watson

SuziSew 09-27-2019 06:46 AM

It's fabulous!! Love the color and the pattern! I'm sure she will love it too!

Daffy Daphne 09-27-2019 07:00 AM

wesing, yes, the backing is Stonehenge.

toogie, it's a copy of a pattern's picture that was posted on the Board in 2013. The HSTs are 3" finished, and everything else is multiples of 3".

Watson, oh, I couldn't possibly do it freehand! I traced the pattern on Golden Threads paper and quilted over that. Time-consuming, but the only way I know how to do it.

Kitsie 09-27-2019 07:09 AM

Great quilt! So well done. I'm in awe of your binding!!

PolkaBabe 09-27-2019 07:38 AM

It is pleasing to look at. I do really like it, especially the colors.
