Today I took a class on S&W...had so much fun and easier then I thought it would be. I loved how each came out. But the other lady taking the class just returned from Hawaii with fabric she purchased there....you can imagine. It was a colorful floral that was just gorgeous. Well when she put hers together it was jaw dropping each and every one of hers...made mine look truly boring...But I'm already out searching for my next fabric and it's going to be stunning....

the fabric I used

I agree, I love the bright florals which are harder to find.

DogHouseMom 04-02-2011 01:37 PM

Is this your fabric or the other ladie's? I like this one a lot!!

KarenK 04-02-2011 01:38 PM

Yours is beautiful!

irishrose 04-02-2011 01:40 PM

I like yours, pleasant colors that are soothing to the eye.

mom2suki 04-02-2011 01:45 PM

Really cool! Great fabric to work with!

Tussymussy 04-02-2011 01:59 PM

I agree that florals make the most amazing blocks done this way, but I really like yours too. Don't be down hearted, yours will make a beautiful and unique quilt that will be much admired.

Sadiemae 04-02-2011 02:07 PM

Your stack and whack original fabric wasn't posted earlier---I love it!

LoriEl 04-02-2011 02:10 PM

If yours looks like that I really wish you had taken a pic of hers! I think yours is fantastic.

dove 04-02-2011 02:10 PM

i think your's is great and doesn't look boring in the least..

harvsstuff 04-02-2011 02:11 PM

Excellent choice of fabric for S&W!

wolfkitty 04-02-2011 02:25 PM

How much fabric does it take? I purchased some fabric not realizing how big the print was, and I think it would work well for S & W. But I probably have enough only for a small one, maybe a baby quilt or table topper.

hobbykat1955 04-02-2011 02:56 PM

I'll try to remember my camera next wk and take photo of hers...we start putting it together next sat.
This teacher told us 6 yds...but I personally looking at what I didn't use think 3-4 would have been enough. We are doing 9 blocks each I think will be 12 1/2 bordered...so lap size

debcavan 04-02-2011 02:58 PM

As soon as I saw that fabric I knew it was going to be gorgeous. Isn/t it fun

BeeNana 04-02-2011 03:00 PM

Nothing wrong with your fabric.
Colorful and makes an awesome design.

Thank you! I have 3 yds. I probably wouldn't have tried this pattern, but since I now have the fabric, I'll give it a shot. Thanks! Yours is very pretty!

Hard to imagine anything making yours look boring! They are beautiful.

Beautiful, I think it turned out great.

LAB55 04-02-2011 03:56 PM

Yours is beautiful, not boring at all !! :-)

grannyp70 04-02-2011 03:59 PM

Your Fabric is BEAUTIFUL, I love it, where in the world did you find fabric like that? If you don't mind my asking. Great job. I have never done a stack and wack, but would like to try it sometime in the near future.

pamesue 04-02-2011 04:09 PM

I like yours ....looks great!

Janquiltz 04-02-2011 04:24 PM

The amount of yardage you need really depends on the length repeat in your fabric. Generally, the shorter repeat requires less fabric, but might not necessarily give you a good kaleidoscope effect. So far, your fabric has made some beautiful kaleidoscopes. Looking forward to next week and more photos.

purple_butterfly 04-02-2011 04:26 PM

They are anything but boring and will make a gorgeous quilt! :-D

ljptexas 04-02-2011 04:56 PM

They are gorgeous!!! I haven't tried this yet.
Great job.

ssnare 04-02-2011 05:04 PM

Yours looks great. Besides, when you are home admiring yours, hers won't be anywhere near yours, so why compare them. This is what you like, you are having fun and you will be enjoying your rewards when it is finished. Hooray for you!

Rntraveler 04-02-2011 05:16 PM

I like all the S & W's..... they are so much fun to do.. Did you get one of those double sided mirrors to preview your fabrics before you purchase them...

When i first did this class I bought this mirror and would carry it with me to the stores to check to see how they would look..

Just a neat pattern and your's is great..

quiltpd 04-02-2011 05:19 PM

I think your blocks are gorgeous ! Maybe a bright blue with them will give you the brightness you want

Iluv2quilt 04-02-2011 05:21 PM

All of your blocks are beautiful and look just like a kaleidoscope, great work!

dhanke 04-02-2011 06:50 PM

Your blocks are really beautiful, lots of different effects but not lots of loud contrast. I vote for yours without even seeing the other ladies blocks.

trisha 04-02-2011 08:47 PM

Very rich and luscious looking!!!

vintagemotif 04-02-2011 09:09 PM

Very pretty! I love your choice of fabric.
