It's done, it's done, it's done! When I sewed that last seam I was sitting there smiling like a fool. :D I could hardly believe it was actually finished. I am very happy with how it came out and how everything lined up as I planned.
Now I need to figure out how I'm going to quilt it. |
WOW ! Great quilt

As for the quilting... good luck with that! LOL I have no idea ;-) |

|
It turned out absolutely beautiful! I love it!
|
Yes, you should be very proud of yourself. Great colors and lovely piecing. I can't offer any suggestions on the quilting but I look forward to seeing how you finish it up.
|
AWESOME!!!!!!!
|
Thank you everyone. It was more, and harder, work than I really thought of when I started it. I am a complete amateur, never took a class but I can read and follow directions. Everyone is in a league of their own and I have seen such awesome quilts that I wouldn't want to show mine anywhere near it!
Some of the points are cut off since I only have so much patience in trying to square up and re-size a block that got out of whack. |
Ahhh looks just like a picture....:-)
|
WOW!! That is beautiful! I especially like your log cabin borders. Great job!!
|
That is spectacular, Pam, and I love the log cabin border!
What a wonderful accomplishment! |
It looks beautiful. Love the combination of patterns.
|
Beautiful!!!!!! I would be busting my buttons if I were you :D :D :D
|
You have a fantastic eye for colour and balance.
If you truly consider yourself an "amateur", I can't wait to see you in "experienced" mode! |
Wow! It is an absolute piece of art to look at, and so perfect! You did a fantastic job, and you definitely have reason to smile! :)
|

I love your quilt maybe you can come teach me piecing. I am so not good at pieced quilts matter of fact the first pieced quilt I tried is still up in my attic. I went for the double wedding ring quilt for my mother in law that was 18 years ago . you all do such beautiful work now to learn how you do it ggg.
|
AMAZING!!!!!!
|
OMG!! An amateur???? No way!! This is beautiful!!! Love the colors..the pattern!! Can't wait to see what you do next.

Oh Pam....it turned out even prettier than I imagined! (and I imagined it would be pretty fantastic) You've done a great job with it from design on out! Now...for the quilting...I can't wait to see what you do. You have some wonderful large areas in the center part of the quilt to really have some fun  I just love it, love it.....I'll be sending you my addy!!!

You all make me smile even more. My kids would probably say, "That's nice, mom." I so much appreciate all of you, to show things to people who actually get how much time and effort goes into making even the simplest looking design and to look at all of your works.
Cassie... That was a pretty hard one, the Double Wedding Ring, to do on your first quilt and you were brave to give it a try. I have never done one basically because I am not thrilled with sewing curves like I have before on a New York Beauty and fans There are so many patterns out there that are easy to sew and look great. It sounds so simple, and I know it's not, but the most important thing is to sew an exact 1/4" seam. Get a 1/4" foot if you don't have one, it can be the best investment in getting good results. Always, always, press your pieces after every seam so that they are sharp and crisp. I rarely use steam in pressing, I don't think I used it anywhere on this quilt except some in the center star. I find that it is way too easy to get your pieces skewed out of shape. I use a very hot iron. Another good investment is a padded squaring and blocking board, I used it quite a lot on the small stars with starch. Just keep at it and each one you do will teach you something that you will take to the next one, and the next, and the next. |
Beautiful Pam!!!!! I so love feathered stars!!!! :D
|
Pam, is this the quilt you just finished on your new machine?
|
Meant to add it is gorgeous. doe not look like an amature to me.
|
The log cabin blocks are perfect! Let us know how you decide to quilt it, and then, of course, we're going to want more pictures! Well done--you SHOULD be proud of this masterpiece!
|
I certainly know my children. I sent a picture of the top to my two daughters. The one that it is for hasn't replied. The other one said, "It looks good."
I sent it to a man-friend and he replies with some copy and paste horoscope thing about a project winning the prize. No other personal comment at all. Need to adjust my expectations about reactions to my work. |
OMG! That came out perfect, pam! What a nice job you did. It came out just like the picture! Now.... I can't see one thing wrong with it anywhere, you need to give yourself a big pat on the back for finishing it so soon. That is one ton of work sitting there and a Beautiful job!
If you are just starting out, I think you are going to be one of those quilter's we read about in the magazines. REALLY! Love it !!! If other people understood how much love care and work you put into that quilt top they would faint! Often it is after they have it in thier possesion for a while that they come to love it. Hey, how about taking those girls to a trip to the quilt store, then they might get a clue. |
It's wonderful to have been able to share in the process of this gorgeous quilt top. I am amazed at the speed with which you put this very challenging work together.
It is tuly beautiful, and you most certainly can feel very proud of yourself for the results of your hard work!! Please continue to amaze us. |
Pam
Stunning, absolutely stunning - what else can I say. Love the feathered stars too. Sorry I'm a newbie so I'm a little lost when it comes to advice on quilting it. It will be perfect which ever way/design you choose as I have seen your work & it's all fab  Don't forget to give yourself a huge well earned pat on the back too for yet another work of art you have produced :D Tisha |

Then I started to think "maybe you're right". When I made quilts for my neice and nephew, out of their late father's clothes, I fully expected my sister (their mum) to not appreciate either the time involved, or the random nature of the colours. She is very sophisticated in her tastes, and these quilts were scrappy colours. But she absolutely loved them, and most surprisingly, recognised how much effort they had taken. I knew she would appreciate them, but the extent of it was a pleasant surprise. I kept my expectations low, it was enough for me that I knew what was involved, and that my partner had seen how much effort it took. There are a lot of things in life that look easy, but aren't. And the catch is... if you've done a fabulous job it WILL look like it was easy. ;-) And that's what this place is for.... we know how much work has gone into it, we appreciate the time it's taken and we certainly know the pain of seams that don't quite match and have to be redone. We know you don't just "whip up" a quilt of that calibre. I guess what I'm trying to say is, don't let their lack of reactions get you down. We think you're just wonderful! :-) |
Your quilt turned out just lovely!! :D
I love the border, was that the difficult part? Thank you for sharing. Cheryl :D :D :D |
