I use cheap muslin for the stabilizer..some use paper. I cut them 13 1/2 inches and when done, square them to 12 1/2.

Oh my!!! You were on a mission, Chele! This is really going to be a fun quilt when it is finished. Great bright colors to work with in the winter.

Chele......... love your scrap quilt... have my granddaughter working on one. I use light weight interfacing for my backing when I do these kind of blocks also use it for flip and sew blocks or crazy quilt blocks.

I've always wanted to do a string quilt. I may have to move it to the top of my to-do list after your inspiration.

Yes,Chele, I too love string blocks. I have enough now to make a lap quilt. How are you backing yours? The first one I did I used only fleece.

So cool! I'm remembering this!!!

Thank you so much for the quilt love! These blocks trim at 6.5". I cut 7" foundation squares from inexpensive muslin. I used leftover bobbins, almost gone thread spools, and my scraps. This is really a total scrap buster project!

Here's neat tutorial if you're not familiar with this fun and easy block: http://loftcreations.blogspot.com/20...by-sleeps.html

Your own version will use the scraps you've worked with and love. It probably won't be as crazy as mine. Most of you know I'm a huge fan of color and design! But wouldn't one of these look spectacular in civil war repros, or Fall colors? Or pastels? I'd love to see what you come up with!

Thanks again!
