I'm gonna look through my pictures, but I don't think I have done any as beautiful as all these quilts. I am inspired!

This is probably the most difficult and time-consuming quilt I've done; it's one of my favorites. It's the Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt done as a BOW with a group here on QB. The blocks are 6".

My most difficult, challenging, and I hope most stunning quilt was a double-wedding ring-- one set of rings overlapping another. (In the photo, the pale "background" "behind" the darker rings, make up another set of rings.) Each 12" square was made up of 88 pieces. There was no strip-piecing; it was all little pieces sewn together. I don't have a close up of it, unfortunately. It was a wedding present to some German friends of ours. It's called Medley from the 1994 book Double Wedding Ring Quilts: New Quilts from an old Favorite. Ah, I found a photo of the original made by its designer here: http://users.netonecom.net/~elf/gallery_medley.html

I have scrolled down nine pages of the most beautiful quilts I have ever seen. I am in awe of the talent on this board.
Thanks so much for starting this thread. I, for one, would love to see it continue. When I come back I will look at page 10. :) |

I love both the cat quilt and the baby quilt. You are a great designer.
|
This is shaping up to be an amazingly wonderful thread....hope it keeps on going and going! Thanks for starting it Tanya! I was soooooooo impressed by each and every quilt shown here. Such amazing talent! My bucket list just quadrupled in size.

ube,
How very beautiful!!! |
I don't usually like "flower basket" quilts, but yours with the 3-D applique flowers is wonderful.
|
I love snowflaky designs so this one is special. It's 8 point instead of 6 so I know it's a star, not a snowflake, but the effect is there. Love the blue batik background, too.

I would have to say both of these would be a couple of my biggest accomplishments. The baby quilt because it was my first time doing dresdens and diamonds. I didn't have a pattern just figured as I went and the center was cross-stitched. The cat quilt because it was all paper-pieced and again, no pattern just put it all together as I went.
Love the kitties. The baby quilt is cute, too, but the kitties are darling. |

This is the most involved quilt I have ever made. I designed all the fruit and veggies myself.
This quilt is machine pieced, needle turned applique, hand embroidered, and hand quilted. It took me about 6 months and it is only a lap size quilt. I gave it to my DMIL for Christmas. She is a dear sweet lady and is not in the best of health right now. |

I don't know if others would call these stunning, however, these are the most time consumming quilts I have made. The first one was for my daughter, Celeste
The 2nd was for my GD Chrystal The picture was taken before the binding was done. The first one was an applique and took about 50 hours. The second one has approximately 3,000 pieces as each square is about 4" x 4" and there are almost 600 squares. The most difficult part of the second quilt was the placement of the squares. This one took about 75 hours and was completed about 1 month before my accident that took me out of quilting for about 6 months. Both were labors of love. |
I am awed and inspired. Thank you for the beautiful morning.
|
I can see I'll have to add another subscription to my list. This is one thread I want to follow. Yes, the word is stunning! Each and every one of them!

Ok, lets see how this works! My quilt for my son and dil's wedding.
Since these was my first double wedding ring it too about 2 months start to binding. I used the Eleanor Burns method and won't do it again. I'll piece the next one the traditional way. This is not a quilt for the beginner. I consider myself an intermediate quilter. Some of these curves can be tricky to get just right, at least for me! |

Wow! These are some spectacular quilts. Not sure mine belong in this category, but I will share anyway. (My absolute favorite is one I no longer own and cannot seem to find a photo, though I'm sure we took some. Sadly, this is true of most of the quilts I have made.)
Here is my first ever art quilt, made for the Easter celebration at our church last year. It is not pieced, it's a fabric mosaic which contains over 10,000 pieces of fabric, all less than 1" square, and many less than 1/2", a backing and a fill layer. I attached the pieces one at a time to a white flannel sheet using a glue stick, spray based the whole mess to the backing, then stitched it in place with a random stipple over the entire surface to give it texture. I ironed a layer of heavy craft stabilizer to the back to stiffen it. The outer edge is bound by hand with a buttonhole stitch. It measures 53" by 89". The deadline was tight, I spent five straight weeks standing in front of the design wall when I was not at work, and I had a full time job then. Needless to say I didn't get much sleep that month! I took almost a week quilting it and probably spent a week sleeping after I submitted it. This quilt is going to hang in my new sewing room. Appalacian Trail Drunkards Path Quilt
3 Attachment(s)
This is a pattern from Quilt maker from way back. It is a combination of machine applique' and machine pieced drunkard's path units. I used the 31/2" templates from Elisa Wilson. The fabrics are mostly 1980's, so soft floral.
It's the quilt I am most fond of and plan to make again one day. It took 2 or 3 months to complete, but I did it in my spare time when I was still working 18 hours a week. |
Scraplady, that is one amazing piece of work and I admire your design capabilities and your stamina as I know it must have taken every ounce of energy you had to complete this piece.
|
Your quilt is gorgeous.
|
This is absolutely gorgeous.
|
People have been asked to show their work and we are getting to see quilts we might never have seen. Even though you might be proud of your work, it's kind of a gamble to put it out there. I think we should have a "request to show" every quarter. I know we all have something beautiful in our UFO's or on our walls or in our closets. Thank you all for posting such lovely quilts!
|
I'm enjoying this thread! Wish my computer would load the pictures faster! My quilts are just functional and funky... no "stunning"s yet...
|
What a delight to scroll through all the talent on this thread. Thank you for such an inspiring time. I am in awe of all the beauty.

Quilt for my son

I made this one for my son. He chose the pattern and the colors.... made me dizzy but turned out well.

Absolutely stunning quilts indeed! Contributing quilters, your quilts are breathtakingly beautiful, truly amazing.

Wow! This is a real stunner...

Here's mine. This one took me a year and a half. It was machine pieced, needle turned 3 dimensional appliqued, and I hand quilted this one. I made it for my daughter who loves it. It is one of my favorite quilts and may make one for myself. The third photo is a close-up while I was quilting it.

This is a quilt I did for a 2012 Christmas gift for my DDIL. It was posted yesterday under My Most Challenging Quilt to Date - USA, but after encouragement from other board member, I am posting it here as well. Thank you for all your kind comments. I have had the pattern for several years but I googled the pattern name and came up with this web site for the pattern:
http://www.quiltandsewshop.com/produ...lting-patterns I added the red sashing, blue cornerstones with the state initials below, and a paper pieced star as the cornerstone in the border, to make it queen sized. |
Wow!! I just love the colors! Interesting pattern too.
|
Ohhhh! I love the red, white and blue one too!
So many awesome quilts!! |

Gorgeous quilt!

wish mine had turned out this pretty, good job

May I request???????????????
If you respond about a specific quilt but do not "quote" the post you are referring to, would you please at least identify the particular quilt by the quilt maker's name or the color/pattern of the quilt the reply is about. "That's beautiful" or something similar tells the rest of us nothing. |
