Indeed QuiltE! :o I googled and found the pattern right away - was just trying to determine if it was something
I could even attempt!
After seeing a lot more examples Bergereink, I love the way you chose to use your colors best off all!

Ube, I love that quilt top. It is beautiful and so interesting.

I also love your quilt! I think it would look great in blues and browns. Do you know who the pattern is by?

carolaug 01-14-2013 03:29 AM

it is so hard to chose. I never thought i made stunning quilts so i have to look at them with a different eye. Here is what I came up with.

I wanted to chose one that is unusual and a bit of a challenge. I had to go with my favorite too.i have to edit the pic into the post cause of who knows what! here goes.

I am still working on figuring out how to quilt this one. It is one of my favorite patterns.

Any quilting suggestions and ideas would be greatly accepted!

Very easy yet has a complicated appearance. It is all cut from one pieced block. The pattern is called Casa Maya. And I love it. My next one will be in poppy colors!

This one got a lot of 'ooohhhs' and 'aaahhhhs' when I showed it at guild. It is definitely hard to overlook!

It's made from 2 batik jelly rolls and a navy/purple blender for sashing. Except for sashing, it's all made via strip piecing, and only uses rectangles and 4 patches. Easy to make. The difficulty was keeping the various blocks organized for sewing.

All these gorgeous quilts! Justme, yours is the one that is calling to me. We are getting ready to update our bedroom in teal/aqua and this is the perfect quilt for our bedspread. Is there a pattern available that you could share the name of and where you found it? Beautiful work and color choices.

The name of the quilt pattern is "Jewel of the Night" by Roxanne Carter. It is out of The Quilter Magazine.. March 2008.

Thank you for your kind words. Love this post, there are sooo many beautiful quilts here... so much eye candy!

Nexxus831 01-14-2013 02:11 PM

Cathyvv......your quilt is beautiful. Did you follow a pattern or did you just make it up as you went?

indiangirl 01-14-2013 02:18 PM

I don't know about stunning, but this is my favorite quilt to date. It took me weeks to machine piece, applique and quilt. About 1/4 the way through the quilting I noticed a big pucker on the back. I spent days ripping out the stitches to get back past that pucker. Very frustrating! But, it taught me to look at the backing on a regular basis. And it used up a lot of my scraps.

paulswalia 01-14-2013 03:54 PM

Okay - DebbieB - that one gets my vote for stunning. Simply beautiful! If I could talk myself into appllique, that's the quilt I would make. Thanks for sharing!

TanyaL 01-14-2013 04:36 PM

I think this thread shows that there is a difference between very pretty and stunning. And I am stunned to see how many stunning quilts there are. Great job, ladies!

I would have to say both of these would be a couple of my biggest accomplishments. The baby quilt because it was my first time doing dresdens and diamonds. I didn't have a pattern just figured as I went and the center was cross-stitched. The cat quilt because it was all paper-pieced and again, no pattern just put it all together as I went.

Both quilts are terrific, but I love the kitty quilt.

The appliqued vine and flowers around a border is one of my favorite things! Great quilt! All of these are fabulous and my head is spinning with ideas!

These are all so beautiful and really stunning in unique ways. I can't wait till I have something to post. I need to put binding on 3 quilts and one of them I feel is pretty special (my LAer, Charisma, liked it so much she asked for the pattern so I bought her the book so she would have it).

Not as stunning as others posted here, but my personal best. This was a BOM for a LQS when I first started quilting. The owner designed the blocks. It was so popular that she did a second year, this time providing the material. I added a 25th block of my own to balance the on-point layout. All the TOT whites are different. It's been wrapped in a sheet and stored for YEARS, waiting patiently to be hand quilted. The quilt inspectors are not allowed near it! Not sure how I'm going to hand quilt it and keep them off. Getting it back out to photograph makes me want to work on it again. Only the center block has been quilted so far. Thanks for looking.

AngelinaMaria 01-21-2013 08:35 AM

sewNso post #230--your quilt is an amazing accomplishment and definitely a stunner. It is kind of sad that you are not sure/aware of about this. Take pride in this. If you friends and family haven't told you specifically, it truly is a work of art. Thanks for sharing.

Here's my most impressive quilt. This was for my son's 11th Armored Cavalry Div. in the Army. I had a hard time finding the official Army ACU camo-and it's not great fabric to work with, but it came out great! It's all camo on the back-he called it his "cloak of invisibility" Now I have to make one for one of our 19 year olds in the 101st Airborne and another for the other in the 10th Mountaineers.
You find the artwork online, take it to Kinko's to get it made into a transparency. I found an old overhead projector and blew it up to 2'x4' on a piece of cardboard-that was my template!
