The quilts in this thread are beyond amazing!
I posted a few pics in my intro thread and this ColorSplash Trip Around the World seemed popular :) . Fabric selection is key. I'd love to make a bed-sized one some day. |

Wow everyones quilts are absolutely gorgeous, such a great thread to look through. Here are a coupld of pics of quilts I am most proud of.
The first one is The Farmers Wife Sampler Quilt made as a BOW here with a wonderful group of ladies, it took over 12 months to make. The second is a pattern matched LeMoyne Star, which again took me over 12 months to make as I only used the pattern for the centrepiece, then turned it on point and did my own thing for the rest of the quilt. It is a pattern from Quilters World here in Australia |
Spectacular. I did a small double wedding ring wall hanging a few years ago so I'm aware of just how much work went in to this beauty. Thanks for sharing.
|
Bailey. I love this quilt. I love that you incorporated the blocks and the animals. It is fantastic!
|
Maribelle. I love your star quilt. That is so beautiful. All the quilts are fabulous. This is better than a quilt show. I kept thinking I sure would hate to have to judge these. There would be a whole lot of blue ribbons! Thanks ladies. This was fabulous.
|
The quilt that I am the most proud of is my king-sized General's Wives, seen here: http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...d-t191845.html. What a great thread!

bailey your quilt is super stunning
|
mirebelle, did that farmers wife BOM require you to buy a book or the patterns., or did they give you the patterns each month. that quilt is on my bucket list. i've seen that thread, and just have not taken the time to read it. thx.
yours is just stunning. wonderful job. |
Mirabelle, your quilts are stunning. I wish there was another word to use. Your Farmer's Wife is gorgeous. Wish I had the nerve to attempt one of those. Good on ya. (Don't they say that in Australia?)
|
Shazeeda, I absolute love the fabrics you choose for this Trip Around the World. That pattern is on my To-Do list!
Canada Kate, Your quilt is awesome! I love working with the colors you used in your quilt. Good job everyone!! |

yours is just stunning. wonderful job. There were 111 six inch blocks, all different in the quilt and the group did them here on the QB as a quilt-along, doing two blocks per week. Some diligently followed the pace (such as MiraB!) and others like me, joined in at various stages and gradually got them done. Also just a few pages before MiraB's is QuiltingNinaSue's FWS. QNSue did some other block patterns to finish off with 145 different blocks!! I will post mine to this thread tonight or tomorrow. |

Hi
Well everyone quilt are gorgeous, and must hold a very special place in everyone heart. I have only have only completed 3 quilts one of them is still been quilted, and three cot quilts for my grandsons. But I think a stunning quilt is, one that you have done for yourself or someone else that you have put some love in and or that have meaning for you. Or the colours and pattern go with the place that it is going to live. And that you can learn new things and different patterns. Here is 3 pictures of the ones I have made. Hello SewNSo ... Not MiraBelle .... though am another who completed the FWS. The FWS is a book of patterns created by Laurie Aaron Hird along with stories about women who wrote into a magazine in the early 1900's answering the question "Would you recommend your daughter to marry a farmer?".

Ok, lets see how this works! My quilt for my son and dil's wedding.
Since these was my first double wedding ring it too about 2 months start to binding. I used the Eleanor Burns method and won't do it again. I'll piece the next one the traditional way. This is not a quilt for the beginner. I consider myself an intermediate quilter. Some of these curves can be tricky to get just right, at least for me! |

I got the book for Christmas and I'm so new to quilting it may be several years before I attempt the quilt, but the book is really fun to read and would be worth buying.
Then a few more, and you know you could do a wall hanging. Few more, a baby quilt. Onwards to a lap quilt. By then you'll be hooked and be counting the other direction!!!!!!! :) That's the joy of a sampler ... you can stop at anytime and have something from it! I've used that strategy many times ............... and have some beautiful large bed sized quilts as a result! |

Just stumbled across this post and enjoyed the quilt show on a snowy morning! Loved the quilts, and found this to be an inspirational thread. My two McKenna Ryan bed size quilts are my current favorites.

Applique, I love your quilts! :)
|
Applique, Your quilts are truly stunning!

think you ladies, for replying about the FWQ. i bought the book and joined the yahoo group FWQ. they give the paper piece patterns. the book gives the good pic's of what they are suppose to look like. i've printed off the the lst dozen PP patterns from the yahoo group, but haven't started them yet. catching up on a few other things first.

Quilters: I couldn't stop myself. I was going to look at just a few pages, but couldn't put down the mouse...LOL! I am in absolute awe of the beautiful quilts. I view each as a work of art, making you all artists. Some quilts stunned me, others left me speechless. I couldn't stop. It would be just too difficult to pick just one as my favorite. I saved some of them for my quilt ideas folders (ones I want to try someday) and some I saved just so I could look at them again. I am so grateful for this board.

These truly are stunning quilts. Thanks everyone!
Mine isn't done yet. LOL |
it's been about a year, since I questioned all you ladies about the FWQ. I took the summer off from sewing, didn't even pick up a needle in like 3/4 months. started again yesterday. I did #57 and #53 block of the FWQ. I was considering not doing a lot of them, and just filling them in with easier blocks. but decided to just plug along and do them as the book said. having fun . maybe i'll get a pic of my blocks sometime soon, but this is stunning quilts I have done. and it's not done!!!

My favorite quilt so far is my avatar. It is Carol Doaks 50 paper pieced stars. I did it with a group on here. It was something I had been wanting to do for some time. There is another group starting in JAnuary. It is all paper pieced. I love to paper piece. Hopefully me next quilt is either Judy Neimeyers mariners compass or a bargello.

Meanmom (love that name!) Your quilt is absolutely beautiful!!

I don't think this would fit into the stunning category, but it definitely took some time! Loving all these stunning quilts.
|
The quilt is beautiful, I have done 2 queen size quilts and it is really to big for me and now I am just doing average quilts. I am a happier quilter.

This is my most stunning quilt - just a simple log cabin assembled using the quilt as you go method. It had over 2400 pieces and took me about 4 months from start to finish to complete it. The strips were 1 inch finished.

Oh this thread is fantastic each quilt has its own charm and personality.
This quilt which is my favourite ar the moment took about 3 months evenings only it is reverse applique by hand and machine applique on top and then each block joined to make the quilt. It is very heavy and if I can move the dogs I do have a snuggle some times. |
stunning quilts

This is my most difficult quilt. It was not rotary cut, and it seemed like each block had to be fitted to the next one.
|
I have thoroughly enjoyed looking at all of the beautiful quilts in this thread!!!
|
so many awesome quilts
|
Bailey, Beautiful quilt, you inspired me to make one like yours
|
Not sure about stunning but I love this quilt because it is the first one I ever made that my son actually liked. He even asked for this one. Yoohoo!!!! It is a OBW that I added applique to.
I have kept a pic of this quilt since you first posted it on FB. It is on my bucket list. I have all the fabrics set aside, just not the nerve yet. Thank you for posting it again, it's a beauty. |
