Wow ............ I just saw this thread today, so many gorgeous and wonderful quilts. Here's my addition ...... it's my daughter and son-in-law's wedding quilt.

All of these are amazing and strike me as so difficult to grasp the planning and organization. It would be so easy to piece it wrong or to just fall short of the goal. All of these made it in spades. Great show of artistic and creative work!!!

It was a challenge, but I'm glad I stayed with the project. The quilt was designed by Mike Ellingsen of Blue Earth, Minnesota. It is not paper pieced.

This is one of my favorite quilts. I love the simplicity of a 9P. I am so drawn to small pieces and the potential they have. These are made from 1" strips and squares that are trimmings. No yardage comes to harm when making these 9P:D. They are random lights and darks with darks in the center and corners. It uses lots of 1" pieces...5,832 to be exact. It measures 91" x 106".
https://www.quiltingboard.com/attach...670899-010.jpg https://www.quiltingboard.com/attach...-13-400-9p.jpg This picture was taken in Sept of 2013...I keep sets of ten in a pickle jar, keeping track of the # of sets on a post it note inside the bottom of the lid. In early 2015, I counted up and had over 700 9P's I decided to do something with them. My inspiration was this antique quilt. I think I had enough to do this for our queen bed and drew up the pattern in EQ. https://tse2.mm.bing.net/th?id=OIP.h...pr=1.2&pid=1.7 By March of 2015, I had the flimsy finished...I did have it LA quilted and put the binding on it in July of 2016. |

This is my most difficult and rewarding quilt. The cutting alone took 4 days. The piecing took about a month's work. The pattern is called Eldon and it is all Y seams. It was started as a project at a quilt retreat. I don't think I would have ever picked it up on my own, but I just love it. I have used the star block many time since. It makes a beautiful table topper.

I started and finished 2 quilts this year that were both challenging and ones I'm most proud of. I waited to start these until I had a bit more applique experience and just went for it..
The first is my Sylvia Bridal Sampler. It took me 4 mos to do. I designed the applique border. I did flange binding and added lace. I had a lot of encouragement from other board members to keep going. The second quilt I started immediately following the first one. It is Green Tea & Sweet Beans by Jen Kingwell. Love her crazy busy patterns. This took me about 6 weeks from start to finish. |
Oksewglad.....love your mini. (#325) This is so amazing. As I've said before, you are the queen of mini and so inspirational. You inspired me on my mini journey!!!
|
Teen, I love both of these quilts very much. Very beautiful.
I thought long and hard about what I would like to contribute. For me, I love simple quilts. So, I decided to share my favorite quilt made with my favorite block of all time. It is a blend of blocks I made and blocks from a swap. I'm just amazed that all the different sizes came together so easily. (Like it was meant to be.) https://www.quiltingboard.com/member...008-593996.jpg I hope my added bit of inspiration will inspire your to share your favorite all time quilt. This quilt was on the top of my bucket list. I think the ones you feel the most attached to are the most special and stunning. |
Sync, your quilt is stunning. I just love the colors and the quilting. They are so complimentary of each other.
|
Wow, I couldn't pick a favorite if I tried. All so beautiful and inspiring. Thank you all for sharing.
|
Thanks for the kind comments.
Judith the Hole in the barn door is also a fav of mine and your rendition is lovely indeed. Teen your SBS and JK quilt are delightful. I think we are members of a mutual admiration society for the quilts on this thread. They all bring to the table different skill sets and design layouts. |
Wow! was my immediate reaction. Love the cubes and animals that you appliqued on the top. They really add to the quilt. It's easy to see why your son wanted it.
|
For a not so great picture, the quilt is outstanding! Quilts like this one make me wish I knew how to applique.
|
Ohhh! I think I'm in love...this quilt is truly gorgeous and I love the colors!
|
They are all wonderful, but I want the one with the fish! It's calling me...
|
Thank you.
Pattern: MCCalls quilting mag, Feb 1, 2011 It is titled "Architectural Gem", designed by Susan Guzman. It's made using batiks in 2.5 " strips that I purchased about 2 years ago from Connecting threads. |

Not sure sure that it’s stunning but it’s one of my favorites. This was a pattern in an Australian quilt magazine and it was in two parts. I bought the first magazine and started the quilt but when I went back for the second part the store had decided not to carry that magazine anymore and I couldn’t find it anywhere else.
I emailed the magazine and they emailed me a couple of the border patterns but I had make up some parts of it from bits and pieces of the pattern. Started it a few years ago but only finished it this year, yes a long time UFO. |

I’m not sure this is anywhere as stunning as some of the ones I have seen in here but this is my second full size quilt - it took me about 4 months. It is a paper pieced centre panel and then a mixture of blocks from different sources round the edge. It was also the first time I have tried QAYG - so lots of learning curves.

#352 & 353 are worthy of being described as stunning. Absolutely beautiful.... Both look like they required a lot of challenges in PP and applique. Well done!

Wow!!!!!!!!

What I consider my best is a hydrangea wall hanging and Christmas applique where I used sewing machine decorative programmable stitches to enhance.

Ukinusa that is a stunner for sure! Well worth the time it took to finish.

This is the quilt that I am most proud of. I found the pattern on the internet and spent about three weeks putting it together. I quilted it myself on my domestic sewing machine with a stipple, matching thread colors. I love displaying it every Christmas season.
