stack and whack or Kaleidoscope, depending on how it was cut. OBW assembles the pieced blocks without any background or sashing (and uses 6 triangles to make a hexagon). Most stack and whack's I've seen use 8 triangles or diamonds to make some type of star, use a background fabric to fill out the block to be square, and most of the time use sashing between the blocks.

Stack and Whack, OBW, and 4 patch posey (uses 4 squares to make a block) are variations of a Kaleidoscope quilt, which uses fabric repeats, turned at an angle, to make the block.

If you read the Topic List heading for these types of quilt, you'll find a definition. The term 'Stack n Whack' is Bethany Reynold's trademark so can technically only be applied to her designs. OBW or One Block Wonder is a term used by Maxine Rosenthal in her books to described kaleidoscope quilts made only of either hexagons (6 equilateral triangles) or octogans (8 isoceles triangles each of 45 degrees) set edge to edge with NO sashing or setting solid fabric of any kind.

Since yours is from a kit, I'd say it was a kaleidoscope, you could also call it 'stacked' stars. But I'd also call it 'beautiful'! :-D

Stack and whack or kaleidoscope I think.
