Thinking of Doing Another Boxed Squares
1 Attachment(s)
I was playing in my EQ5 with all batiks. I think I like it. What does this do for you?
Looks great! I wonder what it would look like if you created a positive/negative pattern with light and dark batiks? You could do a large Greek key design. Wouldn't a subtle big E look cool in an eye doctors office? Sorry, as you can see your design has intrigued me.

I love this. It's on my bucket list to do one in christmas fabrics, now I'm wondering if i should look at my batik stash!

I did a variation of this with batiks. LOVE IT. It's sandwiched and waiting to quilt. King size, for OUR bed. But the piecing is slightly different-- done more like a log cabin-- just one row around the center.

I made a batik quilt like this a few months back - http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...e-t208917.html would love to see what you come up with!
one thing i would recommend - turning every other block so that your seams don't match! |
I love this and I'm assuming this is a 9" block. Thanks for the inspiration.
Looks great to me!

I like what you have done on this to-be-quilt.
Thanks for all the neat replies. Jillaine, I LOVE the one you did. Spectacular color combination. WTxRed, yes the instructions I got from a friend call for the blocks to turn every other one. Joyce888, actually they are 6 inch blocks but I have seen them in 9 inch. QuiltNan, I did not know that. Thanks for the info.
I have already started ordering fabric. I do not have a lot of batiks, but I will soon. I imported the ones I plan to have or have already. I like the idea of seeing what it will REALLY look like. Anyone who owns EQ knows what I mean. I love it. |

I did my first batik quilt using a design something like yours, but I certainly like yours better. If you are going to use the same color palette as in the drawing, wow!, it is going to be gorgeous.
I think it would be gorgeous.
I love pattern easy to sew yet can be beautiful when done.
I like this, looks like a trip around the world to me.

I really like the boxed squares and this will look really pretty made up.

i love the look of it. just a hint, if you didn't know... if you right click on the quilt, you can uncheck outline patches and blocks... it gives a little better picture of the quilt.
Great idea. It breaks up the monotony and really accents the beauty of each batik by separating it in the middle. Makes you stop and see each and every different fabric.
Reminds me of a beautiful island somewhere in the mid-pacific! BEAUTIFUL!
Like it very much and thank you for sharing

Boston: what a lovely top ..

Check out the Gemini quilts here on the board. Very similar to what you are doing. Once again, batiks make the quilt.
Looks great. I have a boat load of batik scraps that were given to me. I must consider this!
I really like it. Might make one for myself.
Love your design. Batiks are just amazing!
Anne: I also use EQ5. How do you get additional fabric. I find my color pallette really limited? Hope I'm not dragging this thread off topic. |
looks like a winner!!
Looking good so far! :)
My first words when I saw this was Holy Cow. Oh WOW that is truly gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!! Was it hard?
can't what to see it finished
Love it! (and love batiks) I am working on something similar. My quilt is for a very dark bedroom and am using white for borders around blue, green, and seafoam 3x6 rectangles. ( a little purple and fushia also show up) Using a deep purple for a border. Hope it works. Any suggestions?
i love it... you did a wonderful job..
Love it, I just finished a Circle Pizzazz in batiks and was wondering what to do with the rest of my batiks and you just gave me the answer. Thanks. I like the positive/negative suggestion.
