I've had success with steaming and then letting them sit if the paper doesn't come off. Sometimes I've had to steam 2 or 3 times before the glue lets go. I've used these squares in making doll costumes

This is really going to be sharp! I love how the darker just highlights the softer inside squares. Great find!
