Here is one of the pieces of furniture in my sewing room that is dedicated purpose built for sewing. It is a thread/supplies case made out of solid Cherry with all dovetail and mortise and tenon construction. This shows the level of obsession with organization that can infect an otherwise perfectly rational mind.

Yes, I once saw an old fashioned doctors office display in a museum and they had a case somewhat like this and I adapted it from that.

You are definitely talented. You must have some beautiful pieces of furniture around your house if you can make something like this. And I can't wait to see pictures of your quilts.

That is the most beautiful piece of furniture....now you have given me an idea. I am going to take a dresser I have and get hubby to make the insert dividers for my thread. Going to print a picture of your unit now; thank you!!!!! I do not have nearly the number of threads but do have a problem of keeping them in one place. Thank you again.

oma66 09-04-2011 04:55 PM

I love organization, so this thrills me.

redquilter 09-04-2011 04:59 PM

Oh Wow! That's fantastic.

Barb44 09-04-2011 05:01 PM

John, you do beautiful work. I envy you. I always wanted to do woodworking, but don't have the tools or talent required. I dabble in remaking things, but never made anything but simple shelf units from scratch.

anniec55 09-04-2011 05:09 PM

I'M JEALOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is not only really functional, it's beautiful

3incollege 09-04-2011 05:12 PM

Great workmanship, reminds me of the cabinets my Grandfather made when I was little. This cabinet is outstanding.

emmy 09-04-2011 05:18 PM

This case and the Shaker sewing cabinet from a previous posting are supurb.

bgullett 09-04-2011 05:19 PM
