Recently someone had treated themselves to a rainbow of colors and needed a storage suggestion. I thought I would share mine. This includes two, three drawer storage bins used for scrap book paper. Each drawer is 14" x 14" by 2 1/2" deep. I used 1/4" dowels that I cut into 1 1/2" lengths using pruning shears! I pre-marked the drawers, used a little hot glue and wait till cool. I hope it helps! I like this a lot. Sure helps with all those threads! Would never have thought about hot glue. I would have thought it would damage the container. You did a geat job!

Great idea! So, what do you do with all those annoying threads ends that keep unwinding from the spool and looking messier and messier all the time. I tried using little strips of press and seal but then those would fall off and drive me nuts, too. Right now I'm wrapping ponytail holders around each spool of thread.

Great idea. We had a sewing machine maintenance class at our ASG meeting, and the store owner stated that problems will arise from dusty thread, so do store away from dust and sunlight.

Each drawer hold 36 spools. And I have a total of 5 out of 6 drawers...

GmaBoogie 01-12-2011 07:33 PM

Great idea

Sweetness 01-12-2011 07:34 PM

That's an awesome idea. May I ask what kind of thread you use? I've always used gutterman and have been thinking of switching to something else.

I haven't yet worked through the thread ends issue yet. But then in the drawer it hasn't been a real problem.
