That is wonderful and beautifully made! What a great memory of a wonderful barn that no longer exist. It is even greater that you were able to auction one off to help out the cancer center. Great heart!!

What a blessing you listened to your guardian angel and preserved this lovely scene in such a beautiful way. Thank you for sharing such talent with us. I really admire you and your work.

It's beautiful. Old barns are wonderful.

I love your barn quilt! I am a photographer of old barns & old buildings as well as lighthouses. One of my favorites was an old stone building that was the tower at a tiny airport; it was round. I just have to stop & take pictures. I wish I had taken pics of all the barns we passed as a child in the midwest; I'm sure many of them are gone now.
I have no experience printing from a photograph to printable fabric. Any recommendations for the brand of printable fabric? My dad printed some pics from my parents European riverboat cruise & mom made a wall quilt from them; however the pics were kind of rubbery feeling. I am hoping to make a lap quilt for my great aunt with photos but want it to have a soft hand like regular fabric would. |
Beautiful work....when I saw the words "Richland Center" I had to see where you are from....My mom was born in Richland Center WI....spent many a fun summers there....many good memories....thanks for sharing your beautiful work.

Outstanding quilt, love how your border with the birds works so well with the barn.
|
Nicely done...love the crazy quilt borders also...
|
How on earth do you print a photo that big in 4 pieces? I've only seen copier size prints on fabric. This is a beautiful quilt.
|
That is really beautiful
|
Your picture quilt is absolutely beautiful. Anyone I believe would be proud and enjoy having it hang on a wall in their home or office. Kelela

Thank you for sharing ! You have truly made a work of Art. Our childhoods, our homes, our vanishing past !!! Disappearing icons of our rural roots !!! Common to most of North America. You should enter your work of art into your local quilt show. Greetings and great appeciation from Auntie B in Saskatchewan.

Prices of "wide format" printers have come down a lot, many under $200, some as low as $125. Most print out @ maximum size of 13" x 19", but a few will print out from a roll, so would be longer than 19". That's pretty good for someone who doesn't want to put pieces together. I do not (yet) know whether you would need a certain ink for colorfastness...which may dictate which printer is best for a quilters applications. This "barn quilt" has renewed my interest in preserving important photos in cloth; thanks <debcavan>, your story & quilt are inspirational. After my son graduates in a month & things slow down...I plan to learn more & give it a try. |
That is gorgeous! So real like, I see in my area.
|
Beautiful way of recording local history. I like the border a lot.
A few years ago my brother photographed a barn in my neighborhood and painted me a picture of it, and the same thing happened--within a year the barn was torn down. I am saddened when that happens. I understand that the cost of maintaining them is impossibly high. Just wish there was some other solution. |
WOW!!!! Amazing! And the border is absolutely perfect. Really fabulous!
|
Be very proud! That is a God given talent. The old barns and large farm houses are almost non-existent any more and that is so sad. I am thankful that I lived in that era and have such fond memories. Thank you for bringing it to life for us!
|
This is a really neat quilt. I love old barns and have several pictures of them. May have to try one of these.
|
