What a cute idea :D:D:D

sewjoyce 01-15-2010 05:08 PM

How cute! Don't know about the price but I'd not sell it for less than $5.... :D

Baywatch quilter 01-15-2010 05:20 PM

This fall, one of the elementary school classrooms did his with orange fabric and a little bit of a silk flower and ribbon. They looked like fancy pumpkins. They made enough for every resident in the nursing home (about 85). The residents all loved them.

BKinCO 01-15-2010 05:21 PM

OH my! That is so cool!!

that's funny, that's exactly what i was thinking - $5. it takes 3 pieces of stabilizer to do it. you have to hoop a cut away, slide a tear away under the hoop and a water soluble on top of the toilet tissue, it just tears off really easy - of course you wouldn't wet it. the toilet tissue is cheap at the dollar store, but the rest of it adds up. i'll probably just do some for gifts.

Thanks Donna, I like yours too! I use med weight cutaway for mine and tuelle on top, do you?

jquilts4u 01-15-2010 10:39 PM

I made several of them for the Christmas Craft Fair. Sold them for $10.00 each with no problem.

sewsilly 01-15-2010 10:51 PM

Please explain. Is it sewn onto the TP using stabilizer or onto a piece of netting around it?

tlrnhi 01-15-2010 10:58 PM

I've seen them, but never had the nerve to make one

Emjay 01-15-2010 11:01 PM

How is it that we get these ads at the end. Is everyone getting them? The one about belly fat annoyed me. I was not able to get to the end of it for the answer. Anyone else have a comment or an answer?

Elisabrat 01-16-2010 02:22 AM

Not getting any ads on this end.. perhaps you have no pop up blocker? no clue why a belly fat ad would pop up however, check with admin .. he/she is a wiz. onto the toilet paper embroidery? these are just tied covers? do they lift off, you unwrap them to get it out and refill or its a permanent decoration? lost here..

dglvr 01-16-2010 02:53 AM

I wanna doggy 1  And a fishy 1.
I have a doggy holding toilet paper in 1 bathroom and fishy
stuff in the other bathroom. :D

it's a permanent decoration, you don't use this roll, just sit it out to look pretty. the embroidery is actually on the toilet paper, then the netting is gathered up around it and tied with a ribbon.

it is embroidered directly onto the toilet paper.

yes used the cutaway also with a sheet of tear away slid underneath the hoop and a piece of watersoluble on top.

how pretty.

sewnsewer2 01-16-2010 08:10 AM

Donna may have done her's differently, but this is how I made mine.

Hoop your stabilizer, unroll 3 sheets of TP and fold back. spray adhesive onto the stabilizer and place your TP on the center of the hoop.

I lay a piece of white tuell on top and stitch my design. Then when finished, I trim the tuell and re roll the TP and dab a bit of a glue stick to secure, then wrap in tuell with a ribbon.

Donna, is this how you do yours??

almost, i hoop the cutaway stabilizer, slip piece of tearaway stabilizer under the hoop for extra stability, unroll 3 sheets of tp and fold back like you do, but i didn't spray with adhesive i just held it in middle till it started and it stayed. and instead of using a piece of tulle on top, i used a piece of that water soluble clear stabilizer, but didn't wet it when done, just tore it off. it just pops right off easily. then re-rolled and used spray adhesive to stick it back (anything would do, even double sided scotch tape). then wrapped and tied.

Those are just wonderful! I would love to try and make these! Sounds like some next years Christmas gifts to me. Just hope I can do it!

Debbie1 01-16-2010 09:56 AM

What a really cute idea! Something I would have never thought of, but they are really nice.

sewnsewer2 01-16-2010 03:54 PM

Yes, they are easy too! The hardest part is not ripping the TP.

barbrose 01-18-2010 06:17 AM

Donna this is to cute. I have never seen anything like this b/4 how di you do it: if I may ask Barbara

OK, you two -- I have a question. Where is the tp at in reference to your machine while you're embroidering? Can't quite get it pictured in my little brain.

Thanks! :D

Just mark it off as me being old   I guess it doesn't really matter HOW you position the tp as long as your design is oriented to which way you have the paper.....duh!
