It is beautiful and I bet it was a lot of work to make. Use pink or whatever color makes you happy for the border. Great job on this.

jackied 07-22-2012 02:20 PM

Its a beautiful, stunning quilt. Sure is a lot of pieces!

joy 07-22-2012 02:22 PM

I would put a narrow border of the same green that is in it, then a wider border of a darker pink.... or else reverse those colours... it will make the green pop..... pink is in the red family and the opposite to red on the colour wheel is green... pink and green go really well with each other....

Taughtby Grandma 07-22-2012 05:27 PM

Oh my gosh! This is stunning! No it's not too much of anything

I agree... you can never have too much pink! I think I'd put a narrow gold/yellow inner border (to match the yellow/gold in the quilt) & then the same pale pink for a wider outer border. This is already beautiful... I love it! It looks vintage... right up my alley!

glorcour 07-23-2012 04:49 AM

I would try to pull out one of the darker colours for a border, but I would audition before choosing. It will talk to you when you have the right colour, but I do not think I would use more pink.

Heather Hayllar 07-23-2012 05:48 AM

Not too much pink at all!! Stunning quilt

Lady Jane 07-23-2012 06:09 AM

That is a lot of pink, but bauty is in the eye of the beholder.. I like it!

blondeslave 07-23-2012 11:18 AM

I vote for a dark border-yummy quilt!

rlane28 07-23-2012 11:22 AM

I love it. a pink, purple, or cream border would work if you choose to add a border. but it is stunning as it is. :-)

All I can say is "WOW!!". Absolutely stunning. If the quilt size is what you want, I'd just do the darker border & binding (I like the navy idea). If you need it just a little bit bigger, I'd do a 3" navy border, followed by a 2" strip that alternates various colors in the quilt (those would be 2" long each) and finish up with another 3" navy border with binding in navy. It would just nicely frame all the gorgeous blocks. How are you planning to quilt it?

I'm not sure yet. I usually don't have a clue until I get it in the hoop. Most of the time I do what I call shadow quilt, following the design just outside of the seam allowance.

dilyn 07-24-2012 12:44 AM

you can't have too much pink! I love pink and your quilt is great!

jansquiltn 07-24-2012 12:49 AM

Ooohhhh I like it. Not the typical white. I think no border.

Cindy60545 07-24-2012 02:56 AM

my, you've been busy! Other than the pink, I see no predominate color. A dark border would tie it together, then a pink to finish it off would be great. Size would depend on the finished size you're looking for. Can't wait to see what it looks like quilted! Have you got your longarm yet??

quiltykim 07-24-2012 02:59 AM

Oh this is just beautiful!
Not too much pink :)

dove 07-24-2012 03:00 AM

no...i think it looks great...the white border looks good, but i wonder if a dark blue border will make the colors pop...just a thought:-)

sewmorethings 07-24-2012 03:28 AM

Very pretty, i would use a darker border than the pink, it could only make it more beautiful

KyKaren1949 07-24-2012 04:01 AM

Very pretty! I agree a dark border to frame it.

llweezie 07-24-2012 04:28 AM

Yes dark blue or green thin border would be lovely... Pretty quilt!!

Eliebelle 07-24-2012 04:36 AM

It's beautiful, pink is a lovely color, and I agree with XYZ123...one can never have enough pink!

jme 07-24-2012 05:26 AM

I love it like this!

Karen G 07-24-2012 05:37 AM

I don't really think it needs a border, but would use a darker (maybe medium) pink for the binding.

If you do decide on adding a border, a narrow dark strip then a wider medium pink (possibly a print that picks up the colors of the other fabrics used) would be my choice.

I agree with mom-6.

jmabby 07-24-2012 07:53 AM

I would not put a border on it, just a navy or dark binding

rosiewell 07-24-2012 07:55 AM

what a beautiful scraps quilt, I love the pink background, maybe a scrap border?

KathyPhillips 07-24-2012 08:31 AM

Is this a periwinkle star? My mother, who is now deceased, made some of these. I would add a navy and dark pink like was previously suggested. I think all quilts need 1 or 2 borders. It is beautiful and lots of work!

TrenbeathRanch 07-24-2012 09:07 AM

If it's for a guy, then yes...otherwise, nope-looks great!

Annaquilts 07-24-2012 09:11 AM

I vote for a medium green border to compliment the green and help bring some of the green in the quilt out. I think the dark blue would be too stark for the quilt. No more pinks. There is a perfect amount in there to shimmer and pop. Very pretty and very vintage looking, an heirloom for sure.

wishfulthinking 07-24-2012 09:34 AM

I think it's perfect as is. No border needed.

Latrinka 07-24-2012 10:11 AM

Very beautiful quilt! I'd put a darker colored border on it, just my opinion. It's not too much pink.

I agree with kathdavis. It will be stunning when you are finished.

matraina 07-24-2012 12:02 PM

I certainly don't think it's too much pink. I always prefer quilts with borders.

raedar63 07-24-2012 12:08 PM

This is a stunning quilt ! I think I would add at least a thin border of one of a navy.
