Not a good morning for me to try something new. If it could go wrong then went wrong. I lost count of how many times I had to take the seams out. Over and over and over again! Not sure if I like the 10 minute block or not. I was really hoping that these fabric prints would make a nice 10 minute block quilt. I will have to think about it. :? :? :? Thank you for looking. sorry I forgot to add the picture. Apparently I don't need to be on the comp. either. Maybe I should go back to bed!! |
no pix?

At last, soomebody like me! :) When I tried it, it took me way longer than two minutes too. I figured it was just me.
I meant ten minutes. :)
beautiful fabrics, but maybe not enough contrast between the greens. Depends on the look you are going for. The first one of anything is always a learning experience. You probably have it down now ;-)
Now, you have joined my world.
Sometimes, it seems that I rip way more than I stitich. The finished block is great! :P (and the second one will be much faster!) |
makes total sense, quilt in a day takes a year!! You are doing well
Make a couple more before you rule it out. Practice makes perfect.:)
Love the look
I love the fabric combinations. It is very pleasing to the eye..Looks great!!
well, at least the 45 min wasn't wasted 'cause the
block came out beautiful~! :D Guess you just created the '45-min block' pattern .. I agree, they'll go faster now! |
Once you have it figured out, they will be ten minutes or less!
I like the colours, and yes they go well together. Maybe your disappointment is in the placement? Move the white background print to the centre diamond and I think you'll get the contrast you are wanting! Love the pattern ... and how you can vary the sizes of the inner diamond, smaller/larger to your desire. Also, if you want more ... you can add a diamond again, as you join your blocks together! Neat, eh? |
I like your choice of fabric and love the colors. Years ago I did a 2 hr E.Burns quilt that took about 4 days! So your way ahead of the game. Good job.
You mean that I am not the only one who took more than 10 minutes to make a 10 minutes block!!!! ;-)
OH CJ I am sorry you had so much touble with this block. I loved it and got a twin size quilt completely done in about 4 hours. The last seam is the one you have to be really careful with. Make sure you pull the center part out and pin it really well. They didn't mention that on the video on youtube. That is where I found the pattern. Keep trying because once you master it then you will love this pattern. If you make the center block the same as one of the others then the pattern will look totally different..I can't remember the name of the block pattern pattern it makes , but it's really pretty that way...don't give up!! Keep trying it..crafty_linda_b

it's very pretty! maybe the next one will only be 10 min :)
Sure looks good now! Love the greens, very fresh!
I like your fabric combonations! It will make a great quilt. I had some trouble with this block too & I have to admit it is nice to hear I am not alone! I found that when I did my last seam that if I did it in 2 parts it came out better. I pinned then sewed from the edge through the middle, then pinned the other half & sewed from the middle to the other edge. Seemed like no matter how much I pinned the thing I couldn't get it to come out right until I started sewing it in 2 parts.
Same here... You get 2-3 under your belt, you've got it
I really like your color choice!! hang in there...... |
You are not alone ...i basted my first one so it would be easier to take out. I like your block but i am very partial to the color green. :)
I like it.
I love the fabric combinations too!! Gives me ideas.
Nice block, I love the colors and placement !
Your block turned out really pretty. I love the fabrics and color you chose!
This looks so nice! I always take waaaayyyyy longer to do things that don't seem they should take so long to do. Then I realized I'm not in a race to quilt...I'm doing it just for the fun of it. Once I was okay with that, then it didn't matter if something took 10 min. or an hour. I do think though that since you've got one under your belt the others will go faster. This is really, really pretty! I think now I'm going to have to try one. If it took you 45 minutes it'll probably take me more than an hour! lol!
you are smarter than me, it took me 2 hours and the help of a friend. lol the second one only took a half hour, by the time I'm done maybe I can get it down to 10 minutes. I like the block and I think I will like the quilt when it's done.
It's a lovely block. They will get faster as you become more familiar with the pattern. The first block of a quilt pattern is always slower, because you're extra careful to get everything just right. Soon you'll be making them without having to look at the directions and they will be quicker to complete!
Well I really like your block..and it will get better with each one you do,
but I totally get it when things go wrong.. it happened to me this morning too. sewing day exclusively for the wedding dresses.. first I clipped through the front, right at the boob line.. then sewed the front to the back when putting in the boning... sometimes you just have to put it away for another day |
Your block is soooooo nice , colors also
May be for the first time takes so long then the others 10 You will be  and will make a toturial 4 us ;) |
Thank you for all the encouragement and compliments on my block. I decided to stop there and clean my livingroom up instead. LOL!!
I think its beautiful. Green is my favorite color.
Love the fab choices. Just walk away from the sewing machine. Take a break and try again. You'll be ok. First block is always the hardest, right?
Thank you so much for sharing this, I had some trouble with the block, too! I was making a baby blanket, and on the second block I sewed a square wrong side up. It would have meant tearing the whole thing apart...I was so frustrated I trashed it, used the one block that worked as a centerpiece, and cut up the rest of the fabric and used around it.
I'll probably try it again, but in no way was this 10-minute block foolproof! Laurie |
i think your colors look lovely! if you want find a purple fabric and add a border to bring out the little flowers in the fabrics. greens and purples are wonderful together.. though i am so partial to green.. its such a pretty color! dont give up! go eat a bowl of ice cream if you have some and read posts on this site... its what i do to get me motivated again!
Good luck and hope we get to see a finished product of this. thanks for sharing! |
I like it a lot. I am partial to green.
I did the same thing when working on a hidden wells block. I had to take one half of two blocks apart. Now that you have given yourself a good orientation of sewing and ripping..........things should go easier. Keep on making them! Good ideas Crafty_linda_b Are you thinking it would make a bow tie if using the same fabric for the center? |
Your block turned out beautiful. I like the fabric too.
I just finished a king size. Believe me the more youm practice the easier it gets.
Hi cjmomma, Some days are just like that. Tomorrow will be better!!! I have the same issue with 30 minute meals – they take an hour LOL! If it makes you feel any better your block is adorable!
I'm not a fan of greens but I love your block! The color/pattern combo looks great together!
Love the greens in your block. Nice.
