I used the template below to hand trace each piece, mark the sewing lines, cut them out one at a time, and then hand sew each one. I started in March but had to put it up in the summer when grandkids came. I am going to find the right color of blue batik to back it in and then hand quilt.

Thank you for all the nice comments. My husband also said it reminded him of star fish and colors in the ocean, that is why I am putting blue on the back. I haven't decided which thread to use, blue or multi color varigated thread to quilt it. I think either way will be pretty.

I'm making one, too. It is scrappy with white tone on tone. I work on it when I travel. Hubby usually does the driving. Then on arrival I can visit and hand stitch. You're much faster than I am. I'm in year #2.

A new pattern to me--beautiful. Whatever quilting you do, I hope the blocks will remain the most important feature, not the quilting. Can you tell I sometimes have a bit of a problem when the quilting seems to outweigh or overshadow the quilt pattern itself.
