This is the fabric that I got for the lawnmower trade today. There is alot of yardage in some of this fabric, especially the bolts! I think that we are both happy about the trade.

Barbm 07-06-2010 10:49 AM

I'd say you got the better deal! Great job!

dkabasketlady 07-06-2010 10:50 AM

Lucky you!

finch 07-06-2010 11:20 AM

I do not know too many of the good fabric brands, but most of these are cranston. They are the older ones.

Conniequilts 07-06-2010 11:22 AM

What a fantabulous trade. Is thinking perhaps I need to dig through barn and see what kind of deal I could work out :)

cjomomma 07-06-2010 11:29 AM

The question would be was this your lawn mower or the neighbors.LOL. It seems to me that you got the better end of the deal. Fabulous fabric. I would trade DH's mower for fabric but I wouldn't tell him. lol

Ditter43 07-06-2010 11:31 AM

Great fabrics!!! Did she quit quilting? I'd rather quilt then cut the grass any day!!ha ha ha

JoyjoyMarie 07-06-2010 11:31 AM

You must be gloating over this one! Way to barter!

finch 07-06-2010 11:31 AM

Now that is an idea!! I never dreamt that I would ever make a trade like this! She just asked me if I had a lawnmower for sale and my mind stated spinning and I had two,so I said yes and knowing that she was not doing good at all financially,I made the deal with no cash involved so she would have a lawnmower. So,it worked out great for us both.Plus shae gave me abag of pieces as large as fat quarters. Some bigger.

finch 07-06-2010 11:35 AM

Actually, she was selling her fabric at a yard sale for $1.00 a yard.I bought a good bit from her and we just became friends and she thanked me telling me that I bought her groceries for the week! She has bins and bins of fabric!! Needless to say,I will go back. She still sews ,but just ran into some hard times and needed some cash. A very nice lady. She used to work at a fabric store and the boss gave her fabric sometimes in place of cash.

JoyjoyMarie 07-06-2010 11:58 AM

It is so nice when life brings us just what we need or want, and what we have to offer is just what the other guy needs or wants. I love those "Plus-Plus" moments of connection with the world!

Fiber Artist 07-06-2010 12:05 PM

Perfect trade!!

katmom54 07-06-2010 12:15 PM

Working with the fabric will be a whole lot more fun than working with the lawnmower....

deirdre ann 07-06-2010 12:19 PM

oh you lucky thing, they look fab.

finch 07-06-2010 12:30 PM

That is so true!! I hope that she will be able to sew again after she gets herself squared away.

Maggiesmom 07-06-2010 12:31 PM

Looks like a great "stash" addition.

Pam 07-06-2010 12:39 PM

Wow, what a deal for you, sorry she is having bad times, though. It is good of you to help her out.

mrspete 07-06-2010 12:44 PM

now ain't that something. You must be living rite.

finch 07-06-2010 12:46 PM

I thank you all.I always try to do the best that I can do for everyone, because you never know when you may be in the same position yourself and I have been there in my time. You reap what you sow and I try to live right and do right to others. You get rewarded in the end.

ToucanSam 07-06-2010 12:46 PM

Do they need another lawn mower!!???? Great deal! :)

finch 07-06-2010 12:55 PM

With the deal that I got today,I was thinking about the riding mower. Now,that would be alot of fabric!!!!

Annaquilts 07-06-2010 01:24 PM

Woohooo!!!!! Anyone want DH's lawn mower? LOL Wonderful deal for both of you.

Maride 07-06-2010 01:44 PM

Where on earth did you find someone in such desperate need of a lawnmower that would give up so much fabric for it? I am willing to trade a vacuum cleaner, a coffee maker, a microwave, a kid or a husband. You name it.

finch 07-06-2010 01:47 PM

I went to a yard sale and there she was.,like an angel from heaven waiting for me to enter her fabric world.

ann clare 07-06-2010 02:37 PM

Great fabric

Luv Quilts and Cats 07-06-2010 02:56 PM

Lucky you!

debbieumphress 07-06-2010 03:00 PM

We have a self propelled little mower than DH doesn't use any more. Hymmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm? I wonder if I can find such a wonderful deal as you did. I am going garage saling this weekend. LOL.

finch 07-06-2010 03:11 PM

Come on down to Florida Deb.I would love to take you with me. Leave your mower at home though. Nice to hear from you. Hope you are doing fine.It feels like Christmas to me today.

JanetM 07-06-2010 04:14 PM

Oh, my husband would kill me it I did that.

edit: Just saw the entire thread. It sounds like your trade was a win-win

franie 07-06-2010 04:17 PM

Way too cool!

finch 07-06-2010 04:22 PM

My son sure wasn't happy about my trade because he had a friend that was willing to buy the mower, but I felt good about what I did. First come, first served. She couldn't buy one,so I did her a good deed and we were both happy.

tweetee 07-06-2010 04:30 PM

What a great trade.....do you think my husband would notice if I tried that too? lol

finch 07-06-2010 04:36 PM

I must admit that I have a great husband. He just goes along with just about everything that I want to do. Just approach him real careful and slow and check his pulse and blood pressure, then go for it!!

Boston1954 07-06-2010 05:02 PM

Who needs short grass? Great deal.

finch 07-06-2010 05:15 PM

Thank you all and goodnight.

doxieloverred 07-06-2010 05:25 PM

How awesome for both of you! I can imagine feeling like a kid at Christmas looking at all that fabric. With all the hard times lately, I've noticed that bartering has come back in a big way. The bonus to it is that it keeps us connected to people. How nice to be able to do it in a way that you both benefited without her being embarassed. If everyone tried to live by the Golden Rule, this would be a much better world. You are a gift to the world, thank-you.
