I think the butterfly idea is great. Some patterns just don't worl out in odd numbers. I do lone stars by making rows, then cutting, to get away from working with wiggly biases. Starching it into submission works well for this pattern, too.
There is a quilt-in-a-day book out there somewhere that I learned the method from ages ago. |
Henry, try making your strips a little narrower or wider. I had a rough time when I did mine too, that why I wrote the tute, so I would remember. I have a problem with CRS sometimes. :lol:

Well, Henry, I have to say that it is a noble attempt. We do not know what we can do until we try---and at least you are trying!! More than I can say for myself! I understand your frustration, but take the hints and pointers from your friends here and remember----if at first you don't succeed, try, try again! Good luck and keep us posted! :D

get large pieces of paper and draw 60 degree diamonds on them that are larger than your pieced diamonds and all the same size. stick the pieced diamonds in the middle of the drawn diamonds. using the paper diamonds as your foundation, add narrow borders to the pieced start until they are all the same size. sew them together for a new star. machine applique that star to a pillow background. start fresh on new stars for your quilt. something learned ... nothing wasted. :wink: |
