Henry how wide are your strips? I made mine 2-1/2" wide and cut them at a 45 degree angle.

Well, although it isn't a lone star, it is kind of interesting. I bet you could salvage it into something else. You could cut the points off and make a square or rectangle, then put some other blocks around it.

you plain diamonds need to be the same size as the pieced ones.....try that and see if it lays flatter....

To pretty fabric choices to just give up. Make it work into a wall hanging, with other blocks around it...a pillow top....a pot holder...don't you throw that away, Sug!

When I'm piecing stars I can't have anything else on my mind but the block cutting. I have close my ears, my mind to everything but the block.

I agree whoever said to lay out the pieces on your small planning board first. These intricate designs have to be laid out beside my machine to keep my attention focused.

Hugs, Henry, you'll get it, you've to much talent not to.

I tried to make the lone star once too, well the first time it turned out good,I made it for another lady, then i tried to make me one and I messed it up. It was a log cabin witht he lone star in the middle. Everything is all done, all the log cabin blocks, but the star poofed up in the middle,it wouldn't lay flat,so took it apart re done it still wouldn't lay flat. so I don't know I may just have to cut out another one and try it agin.I have taken it apart so many times that I think it may be streched out now.I luckly do have enough to make another star to match.

I may have been over confident since the first one I made was good.

It looks like the white block should extend up to make the 8th point. It looks like it may have gotten lopped off on accident. Then I think it needs one more full point in the cream color that is sewn between the two prints to the right of the lopped off point. I think you need 8 points. It all looks like it would be VERY easy to fix unless you HATE HATE HATE ripping out!
