Oh how beautiful. Irish chains are one of my favorites and I love the color way you used. If it should need a good home I humbly volunteer.

Karla, I love your Triple Irish Chain; it is so calming. The print fabric is gorgeous. Love the backing too. Nice to see your Kayak quilt again. Can't wait to see them quilted.

Oh Karla, it's absolutely gorgeous! And i love the pale floral background, that is so nice. I love irish chains, and hardly ever see a triple one, absolutely exquisite, and all your seams matching so nice! I started a double chain a few days ago, so yours has really inspired me more, good job! :)

missbehavinnow--if you search through my posts I know I mentioned the magazine title and issue when I originally posted this quilt... let me know if you can't find it and I'll hunt for it some time this weekend.

Thanks for all your gracious replies-I'm going to need a new hat!

Justquilting 01-15-2010 04:11 PM

Here's the info on the Kayak pattern: The pattern is called "Shadows on the Pond" and it's in McCall's Quilting August 2009.

Mamagus 01-16-2010 06:51 AM

Beautiful work as always! I think that quilt deserves the title "Serenity"!!

barnbum 01-16-2010 07:11 AM

Good idea, Mamagus! I have a "tranquilty" already, so I named this one "meadow whispers."

diannemc 01-16-2010 07:16 AM

lass 01-16-2010 07:56 AM

Your quilt is beautiful! Very peaceful, calming fabric/color choices. I have not yet made one in this pattern. Was it difficult?

barnbum 01-16-2010 08:51 AM

Not difficult--trying. It required 30 pins per square of squares and 30 pins to get the rows together. I did get tired of it, so I started a log cabin to switch to--requires no pinning.

It's vital to nail that 1/4" seam. I never would have been able to pull this off with my old machine--where it was marked with a magnet.

meemersmom 01-16-2010 08:58 AM

LOL!! I will give it a try, then. But, I will go to the store and buy more pins! I shy away from using them for most things. The results are stunning, as you have proven, and make it worth giving it a try. Thanks for the tip.

pennyswings 01-16-2010 04:11 PM

Sorry, I missed the second quilt but glad I came back to look. They are both outstanding!!http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-gen148.gif

littlehud 01-16-2010 11:16 PM

Barb M 01-19-2010 06:58 PM

Karla, i love your irish chain so much, and a triple one at that, im going to put your post in the virtual section it's so nice :)

barnbum 01-19-2010 07:03 PM

I feel honored, Barb. I haven't put anything in that section yet--too scary.

Barb M 01-19-2010 07:11 PM

Oh no Karla, it will be fun. You inspired me to get cracking on a double chain, soon i'll have pics :) But not yet lol

Karla, I swear I don't remember any angst with my TIC! I did the Eleanor Burns pattern, and, although it was quite some time ago, my Remembery of it was that it was fun! But maybe it was because my friend and I were doing one together. Of course, mine was a Double Chain, not a Triple Chain. But you've inspired me to do another one! Hee Hee

dsj 01-22-2010 01:20 PM

WOW!! Both quilts are beautiful. Love the colors.

Sheree from Chicago 01-26-2010 10:19 PM

butterflywing 07-31-2010 07:35 PM

karla, i'm seeing this post after the marriage of your son, so who knows how fast the someday babies will come? maybe that quilt was supposed to be yours.

colleen53 07-31-2010 08:00 PM
