My first quilt was this 'tube' method but instead of all squares, it was 4" strips ---tubed. Then 3" strips from the tube and separated at a joining and then in the center of the square. You stagger the colors so...you don't have to worry about the corners matching. Still the easiest quilt to do for me.

Very nice... love Christmas colours

I really like the idea of not having to match the seams. And really glad you turned that far left strip around before completing the top, for I AM the quilt police. LOL

Looks like a fun quilt to make.

Where can I find the instructions for this quilt? I find the other tube quilt method but not this one! I love it done with your Christmas fabrics!

Love all of them. Would love to know how you did it or what it is called. Can think of several projects to do with it like table runners and pillows since I am a beginner.

How many strips of each fabric? 12 fabrics-44 in wide. cut one 4" strip from each. (Now you see how you can make so many from the same fabric.) Line 'em up till they look good to you. cut to 4' X 22" Easier to handle. Sew the strips together on the long side now all 12 sewn together until you have a tube. fold the tube and cut 1 3/4" strips from it cutting across the ends of the fabric. My quilt has 20 narrow strips. 1.) Open the first tube strip at any sewn line. Say red on top. 2.) Next strip move the red half way down the top red and cut the color above it in half--green. 3.) Open the next one at the top of a green. 4.) Move the next green one half the green block down. Making 5.) white on top. AT the top you will have a whole and a half of each color all the way across. When you finish with the first strips do the same to the others. then put it together. This is fast because except for opening the tubes, you are sewing strips together. I put three different sized borders on mine. Hope this is helpful to those who asked. I'll be glad to answer any questions if I can. Line 'em up |
Have to tell you those strips look more thtn 4" but I measured the quilt I have here.

Oh I like that! It looks like xmas ribbons. And NO seams to match?!! I need to make one of these!! LOL
|
Very nice! One of my first endeavors was a quilt very similar to this called 'Cobblestones'. I love the way the 'tubes' work up. Just finished a baby quilt top done same way.
|
Love the idea of not matching seams. Bet it made up so fast and is very pretty.
|
Love it!
